Players generally receive money from the owners for every round they win/compete in. I know for a fact that players on teams were getting $ for each playoff round they won last year, some of whom were a lot worse off financially then the Eagles are. I haven’t been close enough lately but are you sure it’s the teams paying these bounses? I know in the past they got them from the league. It was nothing big but it got a bit better from round to round. After having two kids go through it I can guarantee that playoff bonus is not paid by the league. I know individual teams do give players playoff round bonus but it’s up to the team itself. Also their weekly pay continues until they are sent home some at end of season some who have to stay and finish school. They are also eligible for a small EI based on weekly pay and what’s paid to the billets as they receive a T4 for both amounts. And you fcourse they have to wait the 6 weeks or whatever the time was

I can’t really 100% confirm it was from the teams but it was a fair amount of money the players were receiving, more then I think the league would be willing to pay.

Maybe 100-300 per round and depending on what round plus some game day bonus. Plus gwg and shutouts and stuff

I have no idea where your getting your info from but I can tell you what my kids received and was not more than that. Maybe the two Pres cups finalist got more from owners but not the round of 16 ,8 and 4

Maybe the two Pres cups finalist got more from owners but not the round of 16 ,8 and 4 Well we can agree to disagree then. I know where my information is coming from and what they received, all throughout the playoffs was more than that and increased with each round.. different teams have different $ figures I would guess, just because the $ your kids received wasn’t more than that, doesn’t mean that every team was giving the same amount. I’m not saying either of us are right or wrong but I think it probably shows that teams can and will give different amounts.

Sure they will as each teams bottom line is different based on attendance and games played. I can only speak to what my kids received from the teams they were with

They are also eligible for a small EI based on weekly pay and what’s paid to the billets as they receive a T4 for both amounts. And you fcourse they have to wait the 6 weeks or whatever the time was Ok so I have follow up questions to this. First I know about the EI stuff and know the back when before they change the rules about 20yo pays, guys would going on Ei for the summer. Back then some 20yo were get $500 a week so they’d make okay money and then get to party all summer. Before people get on my ass about okay money when your 20 years old not paying rent food or school, $500 a week is actually pretty good money. Next I don’t remember the amount but it did go up round by round and I remember that some of the Mooseheads were planning on going south for a week with there playoff money because they got so much. It fell through but that was the plan. And I was told then that the league paid them the bonus. Anyways my question is you said you had two boys go through the league, I don’t care who they were but how many years did they play? And did they both play for the same team? Were either of them traded,so you could have seen differences from team to team. Lastly because I know that some players got maybe $100 more then others because of like status on the team, like first liners or guys that were in the stands you know. So what role were your boys to there teams?

Re: bonuses ... the league can have all the rules and policies they want, it is virtually impossible to enforce. There is a lot of cash floating around these rinks ... so if an owner wants to walk in the room with a wad of bills, there is not much anyone can do to stop it. Once in awhile someone will go overboard or be too brazen in what they are doing and word gets out - then the league makes an example of them with token discipline.
Look at the recent OHL case ... does anyone really think the small market Niagara Ice Dogs who got the book thrown at them for making side deals with relatively obscure players were the only ones to do so? And that the dozens of much higher profile guys who ditched NCAA or European teams to go to bigger markets like London or Kitchener never received a thing? Doesn’t pass the smell test to me ... for whatever reason, the league decided to make an example of Niagara. The others either didn’t get caught, or the league locks the political will to investigate their golden geese.

Niagara got caught because they wouldn’t pay the piper when it was time to make good on their offer. If they just pay what was agreed too, the player never gets the commissioner involved and an investigation is never launched. I think it’s one of those things, where if they never hear about it they’ll let I slide but when it’s brought to their attention, their hands are tied and they have to look into it.
