This is a big one coming up tomorrow that falls on a Tuesday night in Sydney. We did face CB once since the trade period ended but we were still out of sync with a new coach and new teammates still trying to figure things out ... and so were they I assume. I think we saw a much better team on the weekend with the complete shutdown of two teams and our guys showing a little more chemistry. CB will be much tougher and have shown a big offensive upsurge since the trade period.
CB is 5 pts behind us and we have a game in hand so this one could be a 4 pt swing.

Big game for sure. A win in regulation time would put them 7 points behind the Cats who have one extra game. That would put a dent in the Eagles' attempt to catch the Cats in the standings.
The Eagles have a lot of big bodies and last time they played in Moncton they used the hitting game to try to stop the Cats. Let's hope that nobody gets hurt if they try that again.

And #31 has to keep his cool because I'm sure the Eagles will try to get him off his game.

Is it just me or does McKenna appear not to be himself since mid-December ?

Is it just me or does McKenna appear not to be himself since mid-December ? Kind of a weird time to make that post considering that he had come into this game with 8 pts in his last 3 games. He was definitely in a slump for about a month or so. Frustrating result tonight as they heavily outplayed Cape Breton, played strong defensively aside from about 3 minutes and stayed out of the box for 3 periods. There was a few headscratching plays where there was 1 too many passes that needs to be worked on. Very fun game to watch for the full 60+ minutes.

I realize that but McKenna still only has 3 goals since mid-December. I know he can do better than that and this team will need him to regain his scoring touch on a consistent basis sooner than later.

I don't find it weird at all ... for about a month now McKenna has not been the sniper we have come to count on ... assists are great but that's not what we are talking about. But its not just him ... Pelletier is also not scoring ... we dominate most games and put up a ton of shots, but it ends up that the the opposing goaltender is the star of the game.

McKenna is actually shooting about the same % as he has all season. He is currently shooting about 10% compared to 12% last year.
The only real difference is his shot volume is down. Excluding the game against SJ where the team shot total was a record 68, He's averaging around 4 shots/game this month. In the past he has been averaging 6.5-7.0 shots per game.
Based on statistics, I would conclude that the big difference is that with the addition of new new guys at the trade period, there are more high volume shooters on the team, more mouths to feed, more PP guys, and less ice time.

I think this has likely something to do with it. Not as much ice-time to go around. Also, it seems like Groulx has been a trigger man on the power play as well when in the past we would look to feed McKenna exclusively.
