Great to see moncton get outshot and face some adversity ! and none more fitting than pelletier to score a beauty in OT ! Rodrigue was one of our best players if not the best . I thought the first two goals on Rodrigue were soft. Didn't feel he had his best game. He was great the first half of the game, kept the Cats in it when the shots were like 24-10.

Any chance there is a site that monitors ice-time for junior games? Lafrenierre must have played 30+. He had 10 minutes in PP time alone. I don't know if this game was an outlier, but his stats might be inflated a bit by the enormous amount of ice he sees in a game. Not taking away from his talent, but give Khovanov 30+ and full 2 minute PP time and I'd wager he leapfrogs Lafrenierre on the leader board. Overall, really good game by the Cats. The only even strength goal scored was when McIsaac & Dejong were off. They contained Lafrenierre and dictated the play 5v5. They shots were pretty even, given the huge advantage Rimouski had in PP opportunity. I was sitting behind the Moncton bench when Dejong lambasted Lafrenierre in the first period. What a hit and I think that set a bit of the tempo for Moncton after that. Both goalies played well, but I think Ellis faced more quality scoring chances and deserved a 3rd star of the night. Moncton came in waves and Ellis consistently shut the door. Khovanov hit a crossbar and Pelletier missed on his first breakaway of the night. Would really enjoy a semifinal matchup with this team. Boggles my mind that Rimouski didn't insulate Lafrenierre with more at the deadline. They will go as far as he takes them in the playoffs. Not sure how he will do in a 7 game series playing that much hockey. Bolduc looked really good for a rookie and was IMO their 2nd best player. Effortless skater and really good offensive instincts. Ellis was very weak on his glove side ... I was not very impressed by him. Giving up four goals on 26 shots is not very deserving of a star, especially when you lose on the road. When we hit him in the chest with the puck he made the save, but he did not steal anything.

I guess its only because Laffy the have 12 wins in row 30 min in game it’s nothing for the best junior player in world Beausoleil need to put him in bench, he always want to be on ice

He had a highlight reel save in the 2nd period that I would have loved to see a replay of. I really didn't have an issue with his play at all. The 2nd goal was a hard one timer, the 1st goal he looked like he was screened on from the overhead replay. Despite his 2 points I thought the Cats did a great job containing Lafreniere and McIssaac gets a lot of that credit. Its noticeable seeing his size difference & maturity from when he was 16 with Seitz shadowing him. I've been really impressed with Fortier the last few weeks. In January he was looking like a nice complimentary player but lately he's been the best PK guy on the team and is really creating a ton of chances using his speed. He stood out to me in this game even though he did not get on the scoresheet. McKenna has been borderline unstoppable since someone on here suggested he be put on the 4th line

Our third line spent most of their night in the Rimouski end, winning races and puck battles. Daoust is fun to watch with how hard he works and can stick handle in a phone booth.

They are dangerous on the PK.

For me this was the best regular season game we've seen at Avenir and it will be hard to top. Previously it was 3-2 win against Halifax last March in front of a big crowd.
Honorable mention to the win against Chicoutimi in November.
The Cats are now 25-3 at home this season.

First star was the linesmen on that third goal, he made zero effort to get out of the way!lol Having officiated at a fairly high level, in situations like that, it’s best to not change your path and let the player adjust his direction. The defender just ran right into him.

Yeah I initially thought the Defenceman got screwed, but when I watched the replay you can see the defenceman could have avoided the collision. unfortunate for a goal to be scored that way, but the linesman really wasn't at fault. Moncton is matching their talent with an equally hard work ethic. they are impressive to watch. So many players to be impressed by, but Jordan Spence is the stand out for me. He has taken a huge step forward (again!) and looks like a 1st round talent out there. leads the league in +/- for Defenceman. I'd be surprised if he doesn't make Team Canada next year.

The thing I find with Spence is that is decision making is almost perfect. He knows exactly when to play aggressively and pinch in to keep an offensive zone possesion alive and when to stay back. I would have to think really hard to remember a obvious mistake he's made in a game. He's even starting to play the body abit more over the last month or so. Add that to the offense he brings and you could make a case he's the best defenseman in the league Lacroix is a lucky coach to have the option of deploying Spence & McIsaac together in the last minute of a close game.

Haven’t attended many games this season thus far but last nights game was certainly worth the admission, a very good game of hockey. Gonna take in Friday nights game against R-N hopefully a good one. The Wildcats are probably gonna make a lot of noise in post season I dare say.
