My Sunday Thoughts: Desnoyers and L'Heureux will go to Halifax as compensation for Groulx and McIsaac. The Wildcats will receive all picks back except the 2021 1st round pick. As for next season's lineup.... Pelletier - Daoust - Import 2020 Draft Pick - Import - Hudson (20) Foreman - Langlois - FA FA - Leblanc - Watt Extras: 2020 Draft Pick, FA Berube - Spence Stewart - DeJong (20) Pavan - FA Extras: Dow, Pilote Lund Cornish (20) FA I think Wilson will be on the team on D, maybe top 4. Instead of keeping Cornish, I would trade for a cheap OA forward who can play top 6. I think they can find a 19 year old FA or cheap by trade. I expect them to bring in a pile of veteran FA's to battle for spots. I would rather do that than rush young players into big minute roles they are not ready for.

The whole post starts with my Sunday thoughts. After that you going on to say what the compensation is for the Halifax trade. Here’s the question is that what you think the trade will be, or is that what you are hearing it will be? Another side question, is the Fortier trade final or was there more to that?

His skating abilities is the best of the rest. He put up respectable numbers as a 17 year old in Junior A. I thought about Sean Stewart but I just like the chemistry between him and DeJong. Berube didn't have a great training camp. He will want to prove himself.

That is what I think. The final price for Fortier is Julien Hebert and 3 2nd round picks. One of those 3 2nds were part of the trade completed January 2nd. My understanding is that both 2nd round picks sent to Halifax for B-O Groulx will be returned to Moncton as part of the compensation deal. Then, those will be flipped to Baie-Comeau. For those 2 2nd round picks, Moncton will receive back: Shawinigan's 2020 3rd round pick Moncton's 2020 3rd round pick Shawinigan's 2021 4th round pick Moncton's 2021 4th round pick

I think we will see Sam Dow crack the top 6. Based on decent play early in the season, I could see Jonathan Desrosiers getting a long look on defense as well ... I think Berube is a longshot myself ... he didn't get much of a look at 16 or 17, quick cut both times. Even being short staffed on defense, he never got a call up - instead we used Desrosiers, Pavan, Breton, Hebert, Wilson, Dow at various points. For whatever reason, he seems to be in the organizational doghouse.
In goal, I think we will see one of Sheehan or DiMattia win the backup job.
Up front, Jacob Stewart will be in the mix, but I can definitely see him in a battle to keep his spot. Protected list guys like Alchorn, Bergbauer, and Crooks will battle with FAs and Stewart for 2-3 roster spots.

They get moved at midseason for draft pick to a contender looking for depth. Both will likely put up better numbers with more ice time.

Ritchie T nominated for GM of the year. Deserves a lot of credit for building a powerful team, adding the right pieces to fit what the team needed.
In today's TT he talks about adding FA's, I assume it will mostly be up front. They are losing a lot of forwards.
