Also, that McDonald's is by UdeM, I believe. There could be possible exposure on the Cats. Which as we saw with BBA and SHE could lead to exposure to Halifax.

John Moore just tweeted the Cats will either stay in Halifax tonight or drive directly to SJ! I must admit I am really disappointed in the Wildcats organization if that is indeed true. And certainly expected better of Mr. Irving. I know I will get dumped on for saying this - but hear me out. (and I'll start by saying if you believe the Pandemic is a hoax or you don't believe in the science, then there is nothing I can say to change your mind.) BUT: first we are in the middle of a deadly worldwide pandemic that has killed millions. second Moncton is now caught up in a wave and is being moved back to the orange zone. They are doing that because the virus is present in Moncton and they can't contain it (at least not yet). Anyone who has been in contact with multiple people is at risk. For example, if someone went to McDonalds and then was in a store and passed it to the employee. Later a Wildcat player is in that store and interacts with the employee and is now positive (asymptomatic but positive). And here is the thing - they are going Orange at midnight to allow businesses a chance to finish the day and close shop, etc. Not because they struck a deal with the virus not to attack anybody until midnight. No, the are advising people not to leave the Moncton Zone because they could spread the virus. The Wildcats were in Moncton earlier TODAY - which means they could be carriers. They have now gone to Halifax and infected that team and its fans. Then they are going to go to Saint John and infect that team and its fans. (If even one of their players have it.) They should have gone directly home - DO NOT PASS GO. DO NOT COLLECT $200 and do the responsible thing. But no - guess they think they are better than that. Guess this isn't serious to them.

Guess this isn't serious to them Montreal and Quebec are red zones yet the remparts and armada both played last weekend and look what happened so you must be upset with them too, right? it’s more likely the Q asking them to stay in Halifax or Saint John tonight than them doing it on there own.

Don't blame any of the owners. Blame Courteau. He had the ability to be proactive and shut this down before it got out of control. Now it's too late and he's disregarded player and public safety. They came into this half ass and it's failing. No bubble. No testing. Travelling around one of the most infected provinces and now here in Moncton were having an outbreak. He has no respect for anything. He got his 20 million and let the Quebec government change the fighting rule. Courteau is the problem. I've lost alot of respect for the QMJHL.

If they already left the city, I’m assuming this weekend is fine. However next weekend is likely toast If they left the city today, they could still have come into contact with someone. No such thing as safe anymore.

He has no respect for anything. He got his 20 million and let the Quebec government change the fighting rule. Courteau is the problem. I've lost alot of respect for the QMJHL. I see this a little different. The Q took a big chance and decided to plan to start season October 1 when no other league on this continent in this sport was thinking that early. They open camps in August with Covid pretty low. They had players come in and quarantine. They set players into billet bubbles and schools that are open everywhere - even in orange zones. Their maritime teams worked with govt on protocols with minimal attendance return to play. Their Quebec teams were given ok to play with no fans. Their overall footprint was reduced (play in divisions not many hotel stays). Now they have done all this work they are trying to work the plan. Society has protocols in place that werent there on March 13. The teams and players away from the rink follow those guidelines....including masks, social distance etc the things we all are asked to do. They have an obligation at this point for the players who are stuck here in their playing communities to do everything to make their sacrafices worth it. In the Maritimes fans have put $ down and there are employees and partners involved. So they will carry on until they cant or are told they cant (Quebec, Blainville). This same league was celebrated for what it was doing just a couple weeks ago. We shouldnt be so quick to run the bus over them yet. They really have tried to make do in a weird time. Like any organization would do they try to make it work. They certainly took a risk and have to be prepared to mitigate risks within their risk of playing a season.

Just got an email from the Dogs saying that the game tonight is postponed.
Looks like Moncton's conversation with the province is shutting them down for a bit. It sucks for everyone involved, but it is the safe choice.

I guess it hasn't really affected the other teams at this point in the Maritimes.

I agree with most of what you say except putting all the blame on the Wikdcats. It's pretty much a moot point now since the SJ game was postponed, but the leauge and the host teams would need to share in the blame as well. Might have been too short notice to postpone the Halifax game given that the risk still seemed relatively low.

4 hours a day 5 days a week? Did I miss something? They announced a potential exposure this afternoon which was someone that spends 8-12 Monday-Friday at the Morton Ave McDonald's. That is ultimately a huge factor in Moncton switching to orange. Edit: no, Dr. Russell confirmed that it is not an employee. A lot of seniors have coffee groups that they go meet up with friends to complain about Trudeau and Higgs ... they don't use Facebook. My father (86) has a group that he goes to just about every week day for an hour or so, but his is at a Tim Horton's. With these groups, people come in at different times, and others leave at different times, so it wouldn't be inconceivable that somebody could sit there for 5 hours as friends come and go. Some seniors have nobody at home anymore, so they get lonely sitting around at home, so they go out for coffee and conversation if they are able. And I'll add to that, The Manoir Notre Dame is a fairly short walk from the Morton Ave. MacDonald's, so it may have simply been a resident of the home that goes for a walk and stops in at MacDonald's for coffee and conversation daily. I don't think this Senior's home has anybody on lock down on regular days so they can come and go as needed. They are locked down now, but before this outbreak they would have been free to roam ... some even have cars.

Yeah if you walk into a McDonalds or certain Tim Hortons locations here in the mornings you'll see the same group of retiree's sitting in the same seats and drinking coffee basically every single day so it makes sense to me.

Lets see. The Wildcats probably left at noon or even earlier on Friday for their evening game. The announcement that we had moved back to Orange came at 2:30 PM so they were already in Halifax. But we did not return to Orange until midnight and so playing the game did not violate any rules. The Wildcats were probably back home shortly after midnight. I'd expect that the GMs probably had a discussion and agreed to play, with the approval of the Q, as both teams would know how healthy their players are with regular testing going on. But Moncton could not play the next night in Saint John because they were confined to Moncton once they arrived home. Many people from NB and particularly Moncton went to NS for the long weekend to be with family, and would have been there when Moncton switched back to Orange. You are all going to die ... I'll be in HRM on Thursday because I am an essential worker. But stand down, I had a COVID test on the weekend and was found to be negative, and have not left my home since then. My test was related to a flight to Gander that I took where I had a potential exposure, even though my flight was never mentioned as a potential exposure flight. You aren't safe flying ... I never left the bubble but was put at risk.

Moncton actually stayed in Halifax overnight Friday so they wouldn't have to leave from Moncton. Kind of skirting around the rules.
