The price for Fortier is at least a 1st rounder if he stays in the Q(and not AHL). Daoust does not require an OA spot, won't go to AHL(this year) and is possibly back at 20. I meant what you guys paid to get him. As a 19yo draft forward. there was no Ist rounder but they got a lot of good assets, I would quickly take that for Daoust... Hebert(3rd round pick but having a big year MAAA) RD_2, 2020 (CHA) RD_3, 2020 (SHA) RD_4, 2021 (SHA) RD_2, #37, 2020 (MON) RD_2, 2021 (MON)

How many NHL drafted 19 year olds get traded for less than a 1st round pick? Daoust would be a great 2 way #2 center on any contender, he can play in all situations and take tough matchups. He is similar style to Groulx last year but obviously not at the same level. You should go back and look at what the price was for Fortier. There were no 1st rounders involved with that trade. There wasn’t a first rounder in the trade but the value was much more than just a 1st. Fortier got BaC: Hebert (first pick in the 3rd round that year) 3 2nds, a 3rd and a 4th. I’d much rather that return than a mid to late first rounder.

Six solid assets ... I'll take half of that for Daoust including a 2nd. I think I'd rather give up a late 1st than 5 drafts picks between 2nd and 4th, plus a kid that was drafted in the 3rd rd just that year.

I could see the Cats possibly being in the market to add an '02 or '03 born player that needs a fresh start, or maybe a Maritimer who wants to be closer to home. A buy-low type deal ...

Right now, the only 2001s we have are Daoust, Bernier and Jacob Stewart. I could see us taking a chance on a change of scenery guy that could play as an OA next year - especially on the blueline, but up front also.

Drew Johnston is available to the other 17 teams in the QMJHL for “free”.

Appears Moncton is close to acquiring Sam McKinney from Bathurst.

There is talk Jeremy Berube is out indefinitely from a concussion suffered in early October. It’s possible he’s done for the season.

That's a pretty good gamble assuming that is the real price.
