In a T-T article today, Thebeau said that he is still in discussions with about five different teams on different files, and has received offers for Daoust.

From Steve Turcotte reporter for Shawinigan. Fortier -> AHL. 3rd turned 1st if playoffs occurred Shawinigan -> turns the page on Fortier and now has the 1st and 3rd to use in other trades if they chose too. Rumour was if Fortier played a game for Shawinigan, Moncton would have keep the 2022 3rd round pick. Weird that they are "turning the page", if TB doesn't have room in the AHL, he might be back.

I heard they had solid offers on Daoust but they were not ready to sacrifice their season, likely means they want a bit more, possibly a C that can play minutes right away. Losing both Fortier and Daoust would leave them very thin at C. my thought would be to move Hudson and Cloutier there, Hudsn and Stewart can take the tough faceoffs/matchups. I assume Dejong is the other player they are getting offers for. Too bad he didn't have a great start, at least offensively. I thought he could be a solid #3 on a contender after last season.

At this point, I have no clue. Florida sent down 4 guys to Syracuse yesterday. I agree they have too many players. Steve Turcotte tweet and article about Fortier is still posted. I’ve also heard rumblings that the Shawi picks are still “frozen” and can’t be used. 🤷♂️

That said, I guess they are sort of (if unofficially) unfrozen if they don't expect him back - they probably can't trade those exact picks in this trade period, but they could trade another similar pick with an agreement that at the draft they would be returned for the unfrozen picks previously pledged to the Wildcats.

I know. Just going off what Shawinigan reporter reported and comments from their GM.

Sha added Campbell from Dru as an OA. They now have 4 but Cummings is a fringe guy who may go if Fortier was to come back.

So what would be a good return for Daoust? 1 - 1st?, or do you take 2 2nd's and a later pick? less than that? I think Halifax received a 1st and 2 seconds from Moncton last year for GROULX. I can't see Daoust being worth the same. Then again, with no real "need" to trade him I guess you ask whatever you want.

Daoust is not worth that much he would likely be a 1.5 year player. Ideally you get a younger player that can play top 5 right away plus a 1st. Obviously that pick can be conditionnal on him playing next year and//or Covid not wiping out the season.

Jeremy Berube has been traded to Baie-Comeau.
Moncton gets Ben Mercer (04 Forward) and a 2023 7th round pick.

Is Mercer a guy that could play in the Q? Very minor deal ... it didn't really work out here for Berube, he was slow to develop, and then had injuries this season that left him behind the 8-ball to make the team next season ... perhaps a fresh start revives his Q career, but also a good chance he ends up in Jr. A. Mercer is a late round pick, but two years younger - could surprise and battle for a spot next year or the year after, or at least be a local affiliate available for depth.

Is Mercer a guy that could play in the Q? He's got good size but his skating needs work. I can't see him being more than an affiliate.

The last piece the WC might trade is Daoust...I keep hearing he will only move if they get their price as they expect him back next year.
