I can’t believe Val-D’Or had enough assets to land all they have ( Pelletier back and draft and now what they have done at Xmas). Is it the Covid discount that allowed them to add so many high end players or did I just not study close enough into deals and Val-Dor gutted themselves for several years? Nobody thought the Cats could add 3 top 19 year olds and keep Pelletier and Spence. If you're willing to trade your picks and young players plus futures, it's doable. I'm just wondering if Robidas is involved.

I also heard on radio training camp only starts back up on Jan 18 after players quarantine for 2 weeks so we won’t be playing any games till likely almost February( if at all) how do they ever make up 20-30 games? Do they just wash them and play what is in front of them? Awaiting some announcement from Cats with regards to season ticket situation if so.

Schedule will likely be around 50 games total.

There was an article Saturday that all players would be back on January 3, and begin their quarentine. However, any NB based players would not have to quarantine. All players will have access to facilities to work out during quarentine. The local players will be able to go on the ice this week. Also noteworthy, is that Loshing stayed here for Christmas and did not go home. I find that strange, and wonder if his family came here, and I wonder if they isolated. Any word on our Import players ?

I'm genuinely shocked there are big deals happening with the current state of the league & covid19. There's enough here to speculate the VD could be in folding territory with how aggressive they are going in.
Lets hope this Spence deal gets pulled off, it will certainly help lessen the blow of what happened last season.

Likely in the form of draft picks, but when a young player is traded, that piece has to go and can't be conditionnal.

Corteau seemed to hint that this would be the last year with the league at 18 teams when talking before the season. And why not go all out if you have no intention on moving forward?

I agree, if you aren't concerned about your future then let her rip I guess. But what does that mean for future draft picks if Val D'Or is already trading 2022 and 2023 picks. How do they position those picks in a draft when the team is not playing in the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 seasons ? I might think that the 2022 and 2023 1st could be lottery picks when I deal for them, so I certainly wouldn't want them tacked onto the end of Rd 1. Same for Rd 2 picks ... the 19th and 20th overall picks are far more valuable than say 37th and 38th (end of Rd 2). Its almost like the league should step in and be a watchdog.

I highly doubt the franchise will fold, heck it will likely turn a profit with the 1M the Quebec government gave them. Before folding a team I think we would see a move to a place like Edmundston.

Edmunston isn't getting a Q team. For some reason it's become the new Summerside. The place everyone lists as a potential option...that will never get a team because of the market size.
