I know Barbashev added some size in the last year but I was not expecting him to be even more physical than his big brother was at 17. He hits like a truck and gets involved in everything. For a guy who hadn't played a game in about a year and was a bit of an unknown he looked solid in his first game. Looks to be a power forward with good skill. Overall its pretty hard to make any assessments when the team has only played a few scrimmages in the last 3 months. The defense is going to be far more exposed without Spence out there for 25-30 minutes. The first line looked good for what it is, D'aoust carries the play better than any player on the team. Yeah that was pretty ugly. Bathurst obviously has more skill and I expected them to win, but the WC had wayy too many turnovers and soft plays in their end. With the guys gone(Spence Fortier etc), they will need to improve their puck management and coverage defensively. It will be tough sledding vs Cha(assuming they play again) and Bat plus likely SJ if they start playing close to potential. They will need to play structured and not beat themselves to give themselves a chance to win. I didn't hate what I saw of Barbashev, he looks quite different from his brother skill wise but he has size and is a decent skater. He reminds me a lot of Foreman at 17. Langlois to me is the most improved player from a year ago. He is involved in all 3 zones and looks quicker and more confidence/decisive. Cloutier showed good hands, I was hoping the 3 month break he would improve his skating but it's still a challenge for him.

I remember the first pre-season game that Ivan B played and he was just as physical, trying to make an impression. He turned that aggressiveness down not long after that. IMO, at 17 and with only the first look, these two brothers are pretty much the same player. I'm not suggesting that Max will be the same key offensive weapon that Ivan was, but from a first look they look the same to me. I think Max B was just trying to make an impression on his Coach and new teammates, and perhaps some scouts that were probably present. It was a poor result in the game and I don't think DLC had his best game, but we were weak defensively also, as is to be expected when you delete Spence and Stewart. I liked our work ethic and we had just as many scoring opportunities as the Titan did, but we really lacked the finish around the net. We'll probably see a lot of games like this one for this season. I would have liked to see Filion play the 3rd after it was 6-1 ... there would be vey little pressure on him at that point and he'd get his feet wet.

Cloutier must be reading the boards. 7 points in 5 games since play started back up.

Apparently if you are a former Wildcats employee and in the 'almighty suites' the mask rule doesn't apply

Apparently if you are a former Wildcats employee and in the 'almighty suites' the mask rule doesn't apply I thought the rules were the same in all 3 Provinces? Masks must be worn at all times unless you are eating or drinking? Its the Avenir Center and the rinks in NB and CB and Cha divided into Zones like they have in Halifax? (People get around that rule the entire game in Halifax, all you have to do is spend the entire period drinking a glass of beer and they can't say anything because you are drinking, I could be mistaken)

After a year of pandemic it's pretty hard to say that those folks did not know the rules.
