If the Isles dress their full lineup, it should be an easy win......but will they?

I echo reesor's post here The Islanders were a powerhouse team stuck playing in a weak division, but that doesn't take away from how good the Charlottetown Islanders were. I've been lurking a bit and I know there's a lot of bitterness and frustration from some Mooseheads fans but, I'm personally proud of the way the Moose played Charlottetown most games this year. Obviously there were a few blowouts, but they were a young team and you could really tell some nights they came to compete. As for the Islanders, they're going to be a hard out for any team. On paper, they shouldn't be able to beat Val-d'Or, but I certainly wouldn't be counting them out. Colten Ellis has looked unbeatable at times, he's probably the leagues best goaltender and a guy who can steal a series for sure. But it's obviously more than him, I mean the Casey and Desrusseaux have done everything you could possibly ask of them, that's obvious, and Brett Budgell has obviously been huge as well despite "only" having 15 goals. Patrick Guay has really settled in as well, it's no wonder the Islanders targeted him and were willing to pay a premium. Not only is he a guy with a top end Major Junior skill set, but he competes too. For his size he's a tough, physical presence who's not afraid to battle for pucks, just a great combination of skill and compete from him, and he's only looking more deadly as his time on the Island stretches on, I mean he's a guy who missed the first half of the season due to Sherbrooke's struggles with Covid. Bailey Peach is in a similar situation, he's less of a play driver but, still, dangerous guy who can play in the top 6... But, those are the guys you expect to produce. What's really impressive about this team is it's depth. Sam Oliver has been incredible as a rookie, I mean what more could you have asked for from him? He's so fast, he scores most of his goals from the front of the net, he's just a hard-working, smart hockey player who has been an incredible fit (I think there was some gorgeous lady who said he'd be a good fit here last june, can't remember who tho ) But I mean the rest of that forward group is just miserable to play against, Drew Elliot and Ben Boyd are just big strong kids who can play, Keiran Gallant has been a diamond in the rough, what a find he's been for the Islanders, he's a guy who had to work his butt off to even make it to this league and continues to do so night in and night out. Zach Beauregard is a little pest who also makes life miserable. That's the real strength of Jim Hulton, he finds guys who fit into his system and molds them into real good players. He takes guys who teams don't value in the draft and turns them into very good Junior players. And this is all without mentioning the defense, I mean Lukas Cormier is just incredible, most dangerous defenseman in the league but, Laaouan brings that mixture of size, toughness and skill, he's a shutdown D who can give you a point a game... that's special. Trudeau 's emergance has been incredible, Plandowski is a guy that could be a #1 on lesser teams right now, and then they have 3-4 other guys who can play regular minutes on top of that All this to say - there's no shame in losing the season series (badly) to this group. This Islanders team is stacked and has the league's best coach at the helm. It might not be the sexiest group on paper but, on the ice they're better than most teams, but they work harder than any of them, night in and night out, they come to play. So yea, congrats on a great season, good luck in the playoffs. Can't wait to see how this group matches up against the Quebec teams.

Great rundown of our team! I’ve only actually seen them twice this season, but this was a fantastic group we put on ice this season. Looking forward to how things play out in the post season. One guy worth talking about as we wrap up the season is Big Ben Boyd. He really showed major improvements in his game down the stretch. He had 4 points in 6 games in March and then finished the season strong, scoring in each of the final three games.
Boyd is a big, bruising forward who relishes the physical game. If he continues to grow his game he should become a force in the league. I'm hoping for a big playoff from Ben.
There are few players with his size who play this style of game.

It's interesting because he had a very similar curve in his first year with the Cole Harbour Wolfpack. He started off the season with a lot of promise, but, it was in the tail half where he really started to show improvement and raise a lot of eyebrows with scouts around the ice jam. But yea, he really is an interesting player, as you said, rare these days to see a guy who's big, strong, mean and... he can score. I think he's going to be a really good player at 18 and 19, and I wouldn't at all be shocked to see him get a shot at the pros eventually. He might not go as far as Ross Johnston did but, He could play a similar role for sure.

Neither Bathurst or Saint John will be an easy series. The Isles may have the edge both defensively and in goal, but both teams have shown that they can put the puck in the net. With a 3 week layoff and in a shorter best-of-5 series, anything can happen.

I was also really looking forward to Justin Gill's development...... but that ship sailed lol
