For SJ its all going to come down to how they play defensively anyway. If our D don't actually play any D, and if forwards don't pitch in to improve our overall team defense, we're fucked.
The goaltending and forwards definitely look good enough to me.
On paper the D looks good enough as well, but on paper the D has looked good often but played like a substance found commonly on toilet paper. Shit.

Well, we did grab two big-time defensive D (Kuznetsov and Sevigny). There's no excuses for this team to struggle on D.

That is some throw shit at the wall and see if it sticks asset management. Every time I think about this I just get pissed off. TG has done some good trades in his time here but his Asset Management with Goaltending has been brutal. Wasting all these pieces on goalies without fixing the real problem and that was team defense. Not sure why he didn't just go out and get Hubertise in the summer instead of Lemieux. It looks like he may have done that this time. Fingers crossed.

For SJ, it also comes down to coaching.
Was Dwyer the right choice to lead this team?

Burns- Lawrence- Dufour Ansons- Francis- Lessard Reynolds- Daoust- Bezeau MacDonald- Trenholm- Chantler Picard, Blagden
Or maybe something like:
Burns- Lawrence- Dufour Ansons- Daoust- Francis MacDonald- Reynolds- Lessard Picard- Trenholm- Bezeau Chantler, Blagden
The possibilities are endless really, up front. The top 6 and Lessard would get PP time, with Villeneuve/Poirier/Sevigny. It’s a pretty potent looking lineup at this point and a lot of it will probably come down to who gels best with who.
Kuznetsov- Villeneuve Poirier- Sevigny Drapeau- DesRoches Gartley- Despont
Hurtubise Couture

I think the move is much more about having the choice to add another impact 20yo than really having a better goalie. Hurtubise isn't having a really good season so far. You can say the moves with the goalies cost the Sea Dogs the return they got in the Josh Roy trade.

We basically upgraded our 4th line to a second "second line", bumping the 3rd line to a 4th line. I'd try to balance the top 3 lines and play all 4 lines relatively evenly. Maybe give the guys who don't play special teams a bit more time 5 on 5. If they do that and the team is winning more than they have been for the past season and a half, I doubt too many will complain much about ice time.

yeah I think it'll likely be a lock for the Isles to finish 1st with Bathurst and SJ fighting for 2nd, I think best case scenario here for either team IS to finish 2nd as they will likely avoid Charlottetown until the 3rd round. 3rd* Quebec will finish 2nd because they are in the other division. Halifax is practically guaranteed to face one of those two in 1st round. And Quebec probably finishes 1st in the conference. While the Islanders, Sea Dogs, and Titan beat each other up, they'll be playing Chicoutimi, Baie-Coameau, and Rimouski....all sellers.

I’m starting to really like the idea of Trenholm and Burns together. I think on a 3rd line with Reynolds those 2 really compliment eachother.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Inniss in Rimouski unless another team takes him before. That would be 2 years in a row Rimouski gets a player back on waivers after trading him to Saint John.

Willy Palov @willypalov · 3m Cam Russell: "The benefit of keeping the leadership group together for this year and the long run made more sense." Mooseheads hang on to captain Elliot Desnoyers, stand pat at QMJHL trade deadline | SaltWire I'm very happy he is staying in Halifax since we weren't able to close a deal for him. Even if we don't see hockey again until March ?

So what did we end up getting in the below players? It Doesn't appear that we acquired any top scorers. That might be because they were all on rebuilding teams. Looks like we have depth scoring and some good two way players.
IMO, If we don't win the Presidents cup and perform well in the Memorial cup it will be considered a failure.
The amount of high picks and trades they have made in this rebuild and still needed to go out and acquire 8 players and move the number of pics, prospects, and players that they have in this trade period is incredible.
I assume this Georgie is trying to save his job or won't be back and doesn't care.
We should have a few guys that will or can return though so hopefully the rebuild won't be as painful
Ansons Daoust Lessard Trenholm Blagden
Sevigny - one of the top dmen
Hurtubise - One of the Top Goalies Couture - Good Goalie

In the last 10 years or so, I don't remember a team having a first pick in the 10th round. We all know they will probably get some picks back but it's incredible looking at the picks they have left.
