Who do think backed out of the desnoyer deal considering Grenier thought he was going to Halifax.
1. Tg found out Daoust was coming back to the q and Moncton wanted Grenier. 2. Halifax wanted more and tg said no. 3. Bobby Smith vetoed the deal.

Bobby said no - Cam wanted more - Trevor found out Daoust was coming back and Halifax was trying to get a better deal and the Sea Dogs decided they couldn't wait for Halifax to figure out what they were going to do.

That must have been one crazy last day for TG. Did they have the deals for Anson, Hurtubise already in play or did it all shape up after he decided not to go with Desnoyer? Did they give up on Desnoyer because d'Aoust fell in their lap? That was some fast thinking and working by TG to jump on the d'Aoust deal, especially if none of the other deals were in place yet. Tricky too to hold on to the Desnoyer deal till it was too late for Halifax to dangle him to another team.
Seems a high price for Tremholm

I like the players we got today but massive overpay when we could have got most of them at the draft for half the price.

I'm very happy he is staying in Halifax since we weren't able to close a deal for him. Even if we don't see hockey again until March ? Yes. I'm not sure why that would change anything. Or were you making a joke where you're taking "staying in Halifax" literally? If not, then I'm missing something.

I didn't say we were hosting the men cup but this team was built for this year.

We dont know what next year will look like, but if any futures involve guys who will be 20 and the extra 20s are sold (for non this year picks), our lineup could look something like:
Reynolds - Lawrence - Lessard Euro - MacDonald - Trenholm Burbidge - Laforge - Elie Foston - Patella - Simard 3rd rounder Akkouche
Drapeau - Desroches Euro - Despont Bilodeau - Gartley Dickie
Shingarov Brideau

Assuming they'll sell next year but could be a good team depending on if they see growth from their 03's + euro's that come in.

Also possible he plays 2 more years in the league.

This is what I read that came in and went out. Haven't double checked the numbers but it looks close. IN Sévigny, Vincent Daoust, Philippe Ansons, Raivis Kristians Couture, Thomas Hurtubise, Nikolas Lessard, Marshall Blagden, Nicholas Trenholm, Connor Akkouche, Danny RD_3, 2022 (CAP) RD_6, 2022 (MON) RD_6, 2024 (VDO) OUT Lemieux, Jonathan Sapelnikov, Evgeny Savoie, Charles McCluskey, Carter Woods, Francis Grenier, Natan RD_1, 2022 RD_1, 2022 (CHA) RD_1, 2023 (SHE) RD_1, 2024 RD_2, 2022 RD_2, 2022 (GAT) RD_2, 2023 RD_2, 2024 RD_3 , 2023 (ROU) RD_3, 2024 RD_4, 2023 RD_5, 2023 RD_6, 2023 RD_6, 2024 RD_7, 2024 RD_7, 2024 (VDO) RD_8, 2024 RD_10, 2024 Looking at the guys you added, it would appear you did as much as possible to change the culture of the team in-season - Sevigny, Kuznetsov, Daoust, Trenholm, Blagden all make you a harder team to play against - all guys who play a 200 foot game and are effective without the puck. Added to hopefully fixing your goaltending, and it should make your team much harder to score on. Your existing core is soft (Lawrence, Burns, Reynolds, Poirier, Villeneuve) - but it was too late to move on from any of them in a meaningful way. Supplementing them with guys who play the game "right" will hopefully fortify the team, and perhaps even rub off on them. In my mind, what you guys did was the best possible outcome at this juncture.

What about this: Tg found out Daoust was coming back...decided to play a game of chicken with Halifax and lower his offer...and by then Halifax was left with no dancing partner as all the buyers had spent their assets elsewhere.
