I haven’t seen David Matthews be cut, but he may be injured and not counted. So we’re looking at 2 to 3 more cuts on D (one will be a 20) and 3 or 4 more cuts on forward (I think it is pretty much a lock that Sampson will be sent back to midget since he is 16).

“Sélectionné avec le 14e choix au total, le défenseur Adam Fortier-Gendron s'est joint aux Wildcats après une superbe saison recrue avec le Phénix!
#RepechageLHJMQ | Fenplast“ I’m going to assume this means he made the team lol it’s from the draft video but it was posted again like an hour ago

Remaining players: Filion Steinman Ballantyne Fortier-Gendron Grenier Hackett Marcil Darcy Hamel Olson Iasenza Morin Auger Barbashev Beaudoin Daniel Labelle Loshing Mercier Mueller Pavan Taibel Lounsbury Lyons Sampson McPhee Sarrasin Smith Matthews Miss anybody? Up front, I think Matthews going back to the MHL is easy and Sampson back to U18. I think you have 4 guys “fighting” for 3 spots, Pavan, Lyons, Sarrasin and McPhee. If you can find a dance partner for Pavan, then I think you move him and the other 3 guys can be in and out of the lineup as necessary. If you can’t then pick 2 of Lyons, Sarrasin and McPhee. I think they like Sarrasin and him being around last year gives him a leg up and an ability to play down the middle of the ice but I think I’d want to keep McPhee, since you’ve invested a little more draft capital in him and Lyons had a goal scoring touch as a youngster.. maybe see if he can find that. If he can’t then you can send him to Jr. A at Xmas and call up Sarrasin or maybe trades/injuries occur and Sarrasin just ends up with the team naturally. For me, I think Hackett is an easy cut when it’s said and done, you keep him close playing in the MHL or U18 as a call up if you need him. Then one of Hamel/Olson are gone because they’re fighting for the same position. The question is, who do you like more Marcil or Ballentyne? Assuming they only run with 7 D. There’s 4 guys locked into the top 6, then you have to figure out who’s going to emerge down the middle as the 2 C. Auger/Mercier have that top 6 potential too, unless Mercier plays down the middle though, it’s tough to find a spot for both of them. Daniel can play higher up, he’s shown an ability to score goals and might look good on the 3rd line with Smith going down to the 4th.. you have to figure Smith probably bounces between the 3rd and 4th line most of the season and Lounsbury, once things get going could easily be that 3rd line C with Mueller going down. The D looks very solid, good mix of experience and youngsters. There isn’t a lot to say here, I think their roles are pretty defined on the team. Loshing- Labelle- Beaudoin Barbashev- Taibel- Mercier Smith- Mueller- Auger Pavan- Lounsbury- Daniel Lyons, McPhee Morin- Hamel Iasenza- Grenier Fortier-Gendron- Darcy Ballentyne Filion Steinman

I think Lounsbury will be top 9, might be the best true C on the roster, guys like Labelle are really wingers.

Because I don’t see any way Fortier-Gendron isn’t playing almost every night. Lounsbury may very well be top 9 and I can see putting him there over Mueller, I just can’t see putting him in the top 6 to start… the team doesn’t have any standout C so Labelle is probably playing down the middle and then you have a fight for the other 3 spots.

I would send Fortier-Gendron to MAAA to start and go from there. It didn't hurt Grenier. You can always reevaluate at midseason. Those kids missed their last year of bantam, another half year midget playing big minutes would help.

Loshing Labelle Auger mcphee Lounsbury Beaudoin Lyons Mueller Daniel Smith Sampson Mercier Ballentyne Iasenza Marcil Darcy Hackett Grenier Fortier-Gendron Filion Steinman Tonight’s Lineup I understand that it’s likely just for this pre-season game, but that top line is small. Loshing is the biggest one at 5’9. They’re definitely giving McPhee a bunch of chances to prove that he deserves to make the team. Anyone know how much longer Morin will be out? I figure that they’re being cautious since the season doesn’t start for another month, but I hope it’s not too long term.

Likely will practice lots / be called up frequently as per Mueller, Sarrasin, Darcy, etc. in the past.

Weird to trade for Lyons just to cut him 2 days later.

Hackett, Sampson, Lyons, Sarrasin released … likely close to final roster? It seems like the forwards are set - they haven’t announced Matthews being cut but he has not played recently to my knowledge so he must be out. At least one more 20 year old will be cut on D and it will depend whether they want to keep 7 or 8. I could see Marcil being cut too if they plan to only keep 7.
