I figure one thread for the last two (2) home games of the regular season will work. Both are against the CB Eagles .
The Sea Dogs are coming in as the hottest team in the league - winners of 12 in a row. The Eagles are one of the teams missing the playoffs and are playing for pride.
The Sea Dogs will honour their three (3) overage players on Thursday night. Then on Friday, Maestro Fresh Wes will perform as part of Throwback Night to end the regular season.
So - can anyone remind me what happens in the third round of the playoffs. I think the teams are re-ranked based on points? If so - the Sea Dogs (If successful) have to stay ahead of the Phoenix in points to get home ice in this round? If true - the Dogs will try to win out their last 3 games to stay ahead incase they get to this round.
Also - race for first place in points is up between the Sea Dogs Dufour and the Phoenix's Roy.

Assuming that we can trust the Q's news release, we would be the 1 or 2 seed in the semi's (if we get there).
Still hoping for Rimouski in round 1, then we get one of Quebec/Charlottetown in round 2. If Bathurst is healthy and gets Quebec, I like their odds.

I said it on an earlier thread but this team needs to be appreciated. It needs to be cherished. They might not win the presidents trophy or the memorial cup but since the turn of the year they've been almost perfect. Think of how many other fans of teams can show up to the arena and expect a win? They've won 13 games in a row. Applaud them, walk around them, because next year won't be as good. And I sill don't think enough people realize that.
Imagine if this team was together since the start of the year? What other records are they breaking, what other nights are they giving us?
The game itself, everyone knew we'd win. It's the eagles. But the players knew it too. For allowing 20+ shots they kept them at arms length and it takes a terrible, ugly goal from Carter for them to get one. Interesting to see Burns with Francis and Reynolds. And Daoust with Lawrence and Dufor. My guess is they are testing out different combinations in a relative safe game.
Bring on tonight. Spread the word, enjoy them, because it won't be as good next year.

Imagine if this team was together since the start of the year? What other records are they breaking, what other nights are they giving us? Since the break the team has gone 32-5-0-1 compared to 13-12-1-2 in the first half. The big bad Winnipeg Ice were 31-3-1-2 after christmas, so you've got to like our chances heading into playoffs/memcup. With two games to go and nowhere to go in the standings does dwyer start benching some of the top guys or does he let guys like Lawrence and Dufour keep chasing league leader stats? |

You have to give to get but that could end up being the trade that hurts the most depending on what happens at the draft.

Any word on whether or not Ansons will be getting suspended? Is there any video of his high-stick? I think it happened behind the play because just about everyone I talked to says they missed it.

It was a cross check that seemed to catch at least part of his head. Also I think a match penalty has an automatic game suspension.

Given today is game 68, SJ probably doesn't ask the league about a review to wipe it out and will deal either way. That being said, if it were really bad, he could get more than 1. |

What a crowd on Friday night! Biggest post Covid crowd out there. The team absolutely deserved every one of those fans in the seats after the run they've been in. Hopefully that energy and level of crowd continues into the games against the Oceanic. Sadly for me I don't think I'll get to go to any of that series as I'm away.  |
