Regarding Biakabutuka - I've heard the rumours of him going to Cape Breton as well. Also, I've heard Patrick Guay is going to Drummondville. Drew Elliot is rumoured to be traded but I haven't figured out where as of yet. i wonder what the return would be

Not interested in Lamoureux. He has impressive size and they have invested a lot in him.....but I'd beware. I don't feel he had a great season at all. He's under the microscope because he is NHL draft eligible. Sure.... it might all come together.... his size is tantalizing. But right now, I would not be interested. so if Guay to Drummondville is a thing.... i find it a little surprising as the Volts look built for two years down the road but whatever i would hope the return would be a top prospect plus at least 2 top picks...... something like Lamoureux, 1st 2023 and 1st 2024 (our own) Not interested? Am I missing something or would that not be the most insane value ever seen for a 20 year old? Lamoureux… even if you didn’t like him you could pick up the phone and have multiple offers of multiple 1rd picks within 20 minutes. Assuming no futures… even though I’m sure there’s a few. Guay I think you should move at the draft. No Simoneau, no Cormier you don’t want a slow offensive start to the year to have teams looking a Guay like half a season of a 40something goal guy vs. a full season of a 55 goal guy. Expectations may need to be tempered but value won’t get higher. Would hope to move Lapenna at the draft as well. Hope Trudeau returns and barring a big offer keep him and Gallant. Test the market for Roy, Stairs and Biakabutuka a let that determine who you move.

Reading along here and trying to follow the rumoured futures it sounds like you guys are very well positioned to have a fun rebuild. I’m looking at this roster and I see a next year roster very similar to Halifax after the Mem Cup in 2018. Halifax came back the next season with names like Groulx, McIsaac, Lavoie, Trepanier(20yo), Kyte(20yo) and Flower(20yo). All of which were moved and became names like L’Heureux, MacKinnon, Vidicek, Dumais, Swan, and Orr (not directly but trade picks for him). Also they still have the 7th pick for this up coming draft. My point is just look at 2019/20 trade period for Halifax and use that as a guideline on expected returns.

It's really amazing how him and Dwyer helped change is from the joke of the CHL to being among some of The elites of junior hockey. I'm definitely bummed our window is closed for now, but I'm very excited to watch our head office work its magic in this rebuild.

I wasn’t going to say anything or bring this up but since you did unprovoked let’s go down this road. Are we sure Hulton will be here to see this rebuild through? I feel this year is very safe to say he’s making the decisions but after that is he staying in Charlottetown? I think he’s done more than enough to warrant a look from some pro teams. Just my opinion. If that does happen then what?

Hulton doesn't strike me as the type who would run off without making sure we were in good hands first. I know that realistically he won't be with us too much longer, but I think the road map to future success has already been made thanks to him. In the long run it's in his best interest too. He could leave abruptly, potentially burning bridges here, or he hire a replacement or at least recommend replacements here ensuring he'd always have a home with the Islanders.

The rebuild will be quicker then some may think The best case scenario, guys like Guay Trudeau Lapenna Brabanec Biakabutuka Plandowski Roy are not leaving as part of futures and you can flip most or all of them in July and December for 9-10 very good assets(top 2 picks or A/B prospects), you end up with a young team in 23-24 and improving to .500+ in 24-25 to contending for a title in 2026. Boyd Stairs Elliott Horth could also be trade chips.

If\When Hulton does leave, I could see Girouard and Henderson staying, with Girouard taking over as head coach. While being an assistant to Hulton at a higher level would be enticing, at some point, he'd want to try his hand as a head coach.

This season and next are going to be painful for this franchise. After that then maybe it will be good.

Hulton won’t be leaving anytime soon. You can’t say that. Things change and can change fast. I’m not saying he’s going to get fired but he definitely will get interest from the pros and you just don’t know.

Well he’s rumoured retired he signing a 3 year extension so it seems like he has No plans of leaving.. also we do have lots of assets to kick off the rebuild. I think with Hulton it will be a 3 year rebuild which is the normal Cycle
