I mean he probably just saw the writing on the wall…good on the kid for making the decision and doing it on his own terms.
Could’ve easily played as the 7th D man or went to junior A, but he’s focusing on the bigger things in life…
After all, it’s just a game - and these are just kids.

What a great kid. I still feel like they did him dirty a bit but that’s junior hockey for ya at the same time. Hope he plays today and gets a lot of cheers

Not sure why some people think they treated him unfairly. He was maybe scratched a couple times before Christmas and then he was hurt for a few games.
It’s hockey if you are not performing well or playing well there is other players waiting to prove they belong and can play. He wasn’t playing all that great I didn’t think.
And who really knows maybe he asked to be scratched while he thought of his decision and a bit more time after the holidays is maybe what he wanted.
Either way it sucks all around regardless but great for him for going out on his own terms. All the best
