So somebody sell it as a better year somehow
Seen Cape Breton has already put the #8 pick in this years draft on the table
Would love to see Hulton get creative and land us some quality young prospects
what do you guys think?

I can’t imagine it being any better of a year, but you never know with Hulton. I would’ve guessed that we would’ve been a lot worse this year but there were some stretches where we played good hockey.
I see us bringing in a 20 y/o goaltender…guessing it’ll likely be a cast off from the OHL/WHL.
Unsure where we’ll be picking in the first round but hopefully it’s a guy that can step right in and play.
Another year older for Kearsay, Campbell, Romeo, Hughes etc..hopefully they can all take a big jump
Euro’s - obviously we draft with our first pick and hope to bring in a stud - but do we keep Repcik as a 19 y/o? The benefit to this I see it as a known quantity…obviously he’s no superstar, but you know he’ll probably score 15-20 goals when we’re going to struggle to score again.
The other benefit of keeping Repcik would be that we would have a high draft pick in the Euro draft the following year.
Maybe it’s a forgone conclusion that both Euro’s are gone, who knows

With out knowing the futures from Gatineau and Sherbrooke and off the top of my head any of your picks next year might be worse than this for you guys. Looking at potential 20’s I’m going to say Horth and Morneau are safe bets but your 3rd is who? Maybe Tessier? I do think you keep Repcik reason being you’ll get another high euro pick in 24. Him as a placer holder for the year just makes sense. As for the euro pick the biggest need for you guy might be a goalie. Finding a 17yo goalie for the next 3 seasons might make sense too. Then in 24 go get the stud forward.

Tessier left our team months ago.... i can't see any chance of him being back as a 20 I think we probably look for a 20 y/o goalie on the cheap and hope one of our goalie prospects shows they are ready to take a real step forward next year I agree we likely keep Repcik... no reason not to unless of course he's valued in the league for a trade based on his strong WJC showing and decent half season on a bottom feeder club i think an 18 year old euro scorer makes more sense for us..... to use our high euro pick on

d should be starting to develop decent for next year and year after as it stands
Kearsay(17)- Topilnycky(18) Hinkley(19)- Michel(19) Vos (19)- Mossey??(18) Duguay (17) Vincent (17)
I would imagine they will likely draft one and also try to find an 18-19 year old castoff from elsewhere too.. Hulton always values his blueline depth
Up front we can likely have a better top 6 than we had for much of this year but it's still extremely thin beyond that
Morneau (20) - Horth (20) Repcik (19) Hughes (19) Romeao (18) Campbell (17) Lyons (19) Bowness (18) Arsenault (18)
Can't see Todd being back.... did Jelley or Allen develop second half after being sent down... Jelley will be 19 i doubt he cracks it but still a chance for Allen
you have Nicholson who would appear likely to crack next year as a rookie..... and as mentioned earlier if someone like Butler could be convinced to report that would be huge but I still think a euro stud is needed here
in goal get the cheap 20 and let Boudreau and Flanagan battle for backup

I have to agree with most of what's been said in this thread so far.
We can't wait on Matthew Butler. It's easy to imagine the idea of him landing here, but we spent 8 years total waiting on Brad Morrissey and Ryan Greene and never saw a sign of them. Count yourself lucky of NCAA guys land, but don't count on them being in your lineup.
Our biggest question marks are in goal and with our Euro situation. While Repcik is a fan favourite and obviously has talent, his numbers are pretty pedestrian....51-9-23-32. But he is a known commodity and maybe we are better off having our Euros not the same birth year.
I don't know if I've ever seen such a wide open crease than we have right now. Very rarely do you see a goalie come in and win a job in camp. Usually they know the direction they are going well before training camp. The idea of grabbing a free FA from somewhere (including OHL and WHL) sounds promising...but you have to be in the right place at the right time to hit paydirt with a move like that.

Article in the Guardian, Hulton confirms we are owed a first round pick from Sherbrooke, just unsure of which puck.
Goes on to confirm the obvious that they’re searching all avenues to fill the goaltending positions, etc.

Interesting nothing mentioned re Gatineau
is the Lapenna deal done as is? or could we see a roster player from the Piques arrive?
nice to see the article today and it being as transaparent as it was
it actually is a nice benefit that we are eliminated and HUlton as GM can do some serious scouting himself along with the staff before the draft

So I wouldn't take his word to be 1000% true. However, I think considering the market for 20yr old goalies at the time the Lapenna deal being final makes more sense

I'm not a fan because he rarely knows what he's talking about but he has a 50 percent chance of being right so
and yeah the market being what it was it does make some sense
anyways i wonder where Sherbrooke is getting a first from.. they don't have anything until round 6 right now so their must be lots of futures coming at the draft hahaha... moncton has sherbrookes 1st and actually 3 firsts overall.... i'm thinking something is going from Sherbrooke to Moncton for one of those firsts which then comes to us for some or all of the picks originally moved for Brabanec

Not saying anyone is right or wrong on the Gatineau trade but here’s what tells me there’s more to come. Charlottetown made more trades after this trade was made and none of the picks that were involved with the Lapenna trade were moved. That’s usually a sign that mores to come.

Good to see Lahaie is still spewing his garbage. His wife blocked me (on his twitter, lol) when Yan-Pavel Laplante accused him of being, esentially, an idiot. And anyone that liked that tweet got blocked by his wife. He's a real treat to sit in front of too at games.

What caught my eye was him saying about depth down the middle. Think our Euro will be a center hopefully a star center but time will tell
