So its official. Quebec Remparts are awaiting Sherbrooke or Halifax. They played a great series as did Gatineau. For the most part, the games were close and Gatineau was right there. At the end of the day Patty Roy and club was well prepared for Gatineau. They had a game plan and executed. You could see the frustration with the G.O. star players as the games wore on. Tough battle, but Gatineau will build from this and have a fantastic team next year IMO.
And...now there was 3. Humungous game tomorrow night. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out tomorrow:
* Absolutely amazing, but Macphee is back in town after losing his mother. The energy this kid brings to the ice outside of this tragedy his family is facing is next level. The fact that he decided to come back and help the Moose with this weighing on his mind, says an absolute sh#t load about his character and how he operates. Wow, if this doesn't rally the Moose troops, nothing will.
*Dumais still out unfortunately by the sounds of it for the remainder of the series. Whynot I am not sure about. My guess is he could have the flu as I don't believe it is injury related. We won last night without these 2 great players, so I am hoping we can do it again if it comes to that.
* I will assume they will go back with Adam in net. This in my opinion is the most interesting piece of this series. We just witnessed that he comes unhinged when faced with pressure. Do they stick with him or do they go back to St-Hilaire? I believe Adam will get the nod. But I imagine he will have a short leash.
*Lastly, the Moose after last night, have to trust and believe in themselves. Stick to the game plan and no matter what, do not panic and stay the course. We absolutely have the talent to get this done. L'Heureux, Lawrence, Doucet and Cataford are outstanding and just need to keep the energy level up. These guys are top of the league with relentless forechecks and some of the backchecks by L'Heureux last night are a coaches dream. Moose forwards have to make use of their teammates and move the puck a little more and create some space. I believe in this group and Moose can go the distance.
Holy fac#, I would love to be at these games. See you boys Saturday.
Go Moose Go!!!

Holy fac#, I would love to be at these games. See you boys Saturday. Go Moose Go!!! Based on the hit and the comments made by Favreau suggesting Dumais could be back if the series goes longer, my guess is that Dumais is in concussion protocol and has to be out for minimum 7 days. He was hurt Sunday so my gut says he would only return if the series goes 7. Olivier Adam should be better tonight but I think it's important to get in his kitchen. The only way to do that is to actually be playing hockey in Sherbrooke's end of the ice. Tuesday's 1st period was one of Halifax's better 1st periods of the entire playoffs. Build off of that and try to get ahead early. Sherbrooke is still comfortable in this series and it'll take a good start and a lead to start planting that seed of doubt. I hope Whynot is back tonight to eat up some crucial defensive minutes. If Halifax is to win this series they will be playing 3 games in the next four days with plane rides between each game. The defense is going to start wearing out and having Whynot back I think is critical for that not to happen. Winning three of the next four seems daunting. Sherbrooke haven't lost two games in a row since they loaded up at Christmas. Have to take it one game at a time as the cliche goes.

Moose took the game they needed. Sherbrooke opened the door a bit. Human nature to lay back a bit after taking 2 games on the road, and full credit to Halifax for taking advantage.
But tonight will be a different beast. I think we'll see the Sherbrooke from Game 1. But Moose can hang with them and come home tied 2-2, but they're gonna have to be super sharp and limit mistakes. Especially Sherbrooke off the rush. They're deadly.

Sherbrooke isn't used to playing catchup, as they haven't been pushed by a team the way Halifax did in the first period of game 3. They weren't able respond in a way that allowed them to overcome the 4-0 lead to tie it up. Of course Halifax, and specifically Rousseau, had a lot to do with that. I still wasn't optimstic with a 4-0 lead after the first period as Sherbrooke could score 6 or more goals in the final 40 monutes against almost any team.
Halifax getting a 1-2 goal lead early would be best case and cause Sherbrooke to take a few chances which could result in some odd man rushes for Halifax. Halifax was opportunistic when they got their chances in game 3 so hopefully that trend will continue tonight. Last thing they need is for Adam or St Hillaire to get in a groove as goaltending is the one edge we clearly have.
Glad to see MacPhee back in, but what a tough time he must be still is going through.
Hopefully Whynot is feeling well enough to get back in.
The day between games is better for Halifax as the Moose have their key players playing more and for the most part are physically smaller than Sherbooke's overall lineup. Rest benefits Halifax more, IMO.
I was impressed Sherbrooke didn't take cheap shots or runs at guys after the 5th goal was scored with about 2.30 left in the game.
Tough one to predict. 5-3 Halifax or 6-1 Sherbrooke

Moose just have to play like they don't give a @$#!×.
They don't have personnel to stop the Phoenix with line matches. The Moose need to take advantage of their own scoring prowess. And keep winning faceoffs.
Win a 1 goal game....imagine if the OT in game 2 had gone different. It's still pretty close.

Halifax has given up half of Sherbrooke's goals scored in 2 periods...first period of game 1 and first period of game 2. Limiting Sherbrooke's scoring in the first period tonight will be a big part of any success. Halifax has been very good in the last 110 minutes of the series allowing only 3 Sherbrooke goals over that stretch (mid point first period game 2 to end of game 3). Very pivotal game tonight.

The Rousseau's are the two best goalies in the semifinals. Quebec took advantage of it against Gatineau. Halifax has to do the same against Sherbrooke and keep on putting pressure on Adam.

Can't really fault Lapenna. His numbers were probably inflated because he was in a weak division most of the year.

Another big one tonight, the addition of Macphee to the third line is a great help, he works hard and brings every night! Our defence must step up again, a lot of mention of Whynot will play!! Let’s be honest here, what can he bring I feel for him, I don’t disagree we need him but even when he played in game 2 he didn’t bring much or log much ice time! I just hope he can be healthy for him! Defensively we are over all young but inconsistent has expected and Schultz play offensively has been great and he has looked better every game defensively!! but IMO goes unnoticed is the Play of Furlong! He is logging a lot of minutes against there top players!! His play go set up Cataford goal in game 2 was beautiful and the pass to Spring Doucet short handed was big!! It seems like he has been around forever but he only 18 (3rd) year he has stepped up and played like a 19 year old!! We need him to be big again tonight!! Let’s get a good competitive game again tonight and Just win Baby !!!

If the Mooseheads can somehow pull a win tonight I have a huge feeling we could see a Game 7 Tuesday Night. Going to need another early start, that’s the only way you’re going to beat these guys because they’re going to be pouring shots all over Mathis Rousseau. Got to imagine this puts his draft stock up, I’ll be shocked if he isn’t a Round 5-7 NHL pick. Even if his NHL eligibility was last year by a couple days. Be per paired to be a shocked then. He’s not getting drafted, probably gets invited to a camp but won’t get drafted. He’s too small. Every other position size doesn’t mater anymore, but goaltenders they still want them to be big.

I mean, 95% of the time bigger goalies are targets yes, but that doesn't mean a team wouldn't spend a 6th or 7th rounder on him. Look at Juuse Saros in Nashville, pretty sure he's the smallest goalie in the league and he's arguably elite. Never know what could happen.

Here we are heading into game 4 after an emotional game 3 that must have the boys pumped up and brimming with confidence. The Moose have showed that they belong here and have what it games to compete with the best.
Game 3 the boys seemed to have alot more room in the neutral zone. Not sure if they changed their breakout systems or what, but games 1 and 2 they'd hit a lone guy in the neutral zone without speed and get closed in on easily. Game 3 they seemed to have more speed in neutral zone and option for a pass as well which really helps push the defenseman back. I also noticed the moose got a lot more cycle going. A lot less individual efforts and just working as a team to get pucks on net and bodies in front.
Seems like when dumais left game 2 it was the turning point where the boys started to generate a lot more offense. A few of the depth guys have really stepped up. Fournier isn't the flashiest player but he can hang with guys in the middle 6 for sure. Having Macphee back will help, but I think that will probably push Fournzy back down to the 4th line.
I think if the moose play simple north south hockey and stay out of the box they can compete with Sherbrooke. Don't get involved in the after whistle activity with their thugs. I know they were taking some dives last game but holy our announcer Garreth was tearing a strip into them. Thought announcers were supposed to be somewhat neutral.
Moose definitely need to get the first goal. I find when they're down they take too many chances which ends up coming back to bite them. Hopefully the boys come out flying tonight and come back to Halifax with a tied series. Go moose!!
