Interesting. In 2008, Dominic Ricard (Volts former GM) drafted Sylvain Couturier's son Sean. And 15 years later, Sylvain Couturier drafts Dominic Ricard's son Emile.

Is Zach Wheeler choosing an alternate route than the Q. He played for the respected Moncton Flyers, had 60 points in 34 games with only 6pim. He had a good telus cup tournament. The Eagles passed on him, Chandler and Conrad at 12th. Then they had a shot at him at 24th and passed on him again.

After our 1st pick I was curious enough to check the CSR and Puckpreps rankings for these 3 players.
Cole Chandler (CSR 7th, PP 20th)
Owen Conrad (CSR 10th, PP 8th)
and then
Emile Ricard (CSR 19th, PP 41st)
Not really reassuring, I have to say.

Pilling is an interesting pick. PuckPreps likes him a bit too much for my liking but there is no denying a very smart player offensively, going to need to work on his skating to be an impact player by 18/19.

Round 1: (12th Overall) - LW: Émile Ricard (HP Ranked: 24th)
Round 2: (24th Overall) - F: Luke Foley (HP Ranked: 38th)
Round 2: (34th Overall) - C: Rory Pilling (HP Ranked: 81st)
Round 3: (41st Overall) - LD: Will Murphy (HP Ranked: 28th)

Great value with Will Murphy. I think he could actually step into your lineup next season if needed. Big kid that actually wouldn't mind see going to play Jr. A in Summerside for a year (Zach Biggar), I think he returned to U18 hockey, being as strong as he is would allow him to cheat the game slightly.

They go with Emile Ricard out of Quebec ...........Pass on the 2 New Nova Scotian Kids . Didn't see this coming honestly . I'm guessing they both told the Eagles that they wouldn't report. |
