We are a couple of days away from the start of the 23-24 season.
The Islanders open up on the road with a trip to Halifax for the first leg of a home and home series with the Mooseheads to kick off the season.
Game time is 7:00 PM.

For the Mooseheads, they're missing Jordan Dumais, Matthew Cataford, Jake Furlong, Dylan MacKinnon and Mathis Rousseau for the first weekend. That's a lot of missing talent.
I can't give you a clear idea of what the Mooseheads line-up will look like my best guess -
Peitszche - Vidicek - Ponzetto
Crosby - Kilfoil - Fournier
Levesque - MacPhee - Todd
Welsh - Fontaine - Bent
Moravec - Phillips
Schultz - MacKenzie
Martin - Doyle
Milner
Madgett
The Islanders will want to get to Jack Milner early, the Rookie goaltender is going to be under a ton of pressure in his first home opener, and knowing he's on an island with a call-up backing him up.
The Mooseheads will also be thin up front, the threat will be from that back-end. Phillips and Schultz both look like they've taken significant steps forward, and Martin and Moravec are both solid returning vets.

Not ideal. We tried this last year and it did not go so well. I know they need time to evaluate, but the sooner they can get it down to 2, the better. It is unlikely the Euro leaves….unless he flys the coop or something like that. So either Boudreau is reassigned to a lower level or they send the FA back to Ontario. We wait. |

My guess is that they give Bickle/Boudreau a game or two each…if Bickle shows he can hold his own and Boudreau shows he could use another year of midget, then I’d say that’ll be the plan.

From what I’ve read on the Oshawa boards and from a few Oshawa fans he seems like a pickup that has potential.. let Drew work with him and see if he can crack his potential if not it was worth the risk

The preseason games that I have watched, I feel that the Latvian has very good potential for being 18 and his first time playing in N.A.
I feel that Boudreau will get sent to JrA to get more ice time and come back next year as an 18yr old ready to be a solid 1-2 tandem with Ozols

Looking forward to attending the season opener!
I think that there will be some growing pains this season, but at the same, I feel that the pieces are in place to have a very competitive team in a year or two.
Owen Conrad. 16yrs old.
Anthony Flanagan. 16yrs old.
Marcus Kearsey. 17yrs old.
Niko Boudreau. 17yrs old.
Matthew Butler. 17yrs old.
Alexis Michaud. 17yrs old.
Slovakian, Ondrej Maruna. 17yrs old.
Ross Campbell. 17yrs old
Lucas Romeo. 18yrs old.
Latvian, Aksels Ozols. 18yr old netminder.
That's a good solid base to add on for the next two/three years.
