LOL, you win. That 3 min interview should have fans in a complete uproar. The guy embarrassed himself and the entire organization. Did you completely miss sherwood's comment on how the lack of pride and emotion bled into the product? Scotty Bowman was considered one of the best coaches in hockey history. Not everything the guy did was positive. At times he wasn't the greatest and was fired. So many times over the course of history people fairly criticized one of the best ever at his craft and he was left unemployed. If the "professional" demeanour came after taking 4 points. Nobody has any issue. After THAT performance...did you actually take into account that they lose 2 games by a combined 13-1 because results seem irrelevant to you...the fans should be questioning his motivation and pride. Because the 20 guys on the ice didn't show any of those qualities have rubbed off from the coaching staff. Add in another distraction from ownership and I dont know what you expect to come here and read today. The team embarrassed themselves in many ways and you're here trying to give the coach a pass for reasons that are just silly to even mention at this point because everyone is dedicating time and working hard but thats why results are how that is all measured. Where does CB sit today results wise? Doesnt that answer any issues you have with frustrated fans? At least wait until these guys over achieve for a frigging period before you come here telling people why they need to only see the coach a certain way. Man you make me laugh, you even brought Scott Bowman into this. Robitaille handled the weekend tremendously IMO, I don't care how many paragraphs you write about it. JB, you have no idea what was going on in that dressing room this past weekend, you think you do, based on your Newcombe comment, I guess because it's hockey and a teammate is battling, everyone needs to be at their best. Trust me, many of these boys just experienced one of hardest weekends of their young lives and fans are jumping up and down over their effort, you want emotion or lack of it, there you have it. Wins/performance about all else, terrible.

I dont need to know what was going on in that dressing room because the 13-1 scoreboard gave us all we needed to know about how they performed and were motivated. But we get it.... Message board posting is emotion. 20 hockey players showing no emotion or work ethic while getting pretty beat down by a rival is a hard weekend. And yes, hockey fans want wins. Above all else? What are you even trying to imply with that garbage comment? I guess we should have rewarded them for participation medals for even showing up. Standing ovation at the end for even making it through 3 periods. What are you even doing at this point? Spend 10 minutes to crunch the numbers...use the entire CHL...go back 15 years...then tell me how ungrateful and hard this fan base is and how unfair it is. And all this while clearly ignoring the entire ownership/Simon hiring his son fiasco. You're making many laugh with the stance you're taking.

Not trying to butt in here.....well, yes I am. Its getting depressing listening to all the negativity around your team and fans. I really hope for the players sake, they dont read this crap. You two should just agree to disagree on this one. The dead horse seems pretty beaten!!!

You are bang on Herd Fan, this Eagles board has it's moments, but holy fuck JB is hard on the head. When I stop and think about what I am actually doing here, arguing with a guy who lives behind his keyboard, I need to give my head a shake and move on. Enjoy the season folks, Go Eagles.

I can just imagine how positive the Halifax board would look if the ownership situations and results were reversed. The new owners kid on the radio telling Halifax fans how exciting cash in the bag is after years of ineptitude and getting slammed 13-1 on home ice in 2 straight games. That would be received with open arms i'm sure. Who isn't going to be depressed after that weekend?

This all wouldn't be near as funny if the results weren't 13-1 vs a rival we view ourselves as competing with and Simon's son sounding like he was handed a new toy by his daddy. All this because someone dared to question the coach lol

At the very least a team that’s right there, ready to make the next step. People are just supposed to blindly follow an organization and GM that’s given them no reason to do that in the past? I don’t think so.

The idea of that being the first impression so many had to that coach and his team...with the emotion surrounding it...impossible to come out of that like we did and not question things. I'll forever fight the right of people to question those who are here to fix things and turn it around when, based on first impressions, we were really let down.

Absolutely, those two games (rightfully or wrongfully) undoubtedly will influence the attendance for the remainder of the season. This was the first look at the team with a revamped head coach and a few players they brought in, and the result was more or less the same or arguably worse than what we've been seeing the past few seasons. At nearly $60/game for 2 adults it's just not a very enticing draw compared to the other options around town when there was literally nothing to get excited about in 120 minutes of hockey. I could count the scoring chances, or big hits the Eagles mustered up on 1 hand.

But I 100% agree it influences the here and now. 3 home games here next week that people, after spending that $60 on Friday night, may not be as excited for because of the results. The league, our ownership, our management are all oblivious to the fact that there's an entertainment aspect thats expected and if not delivered will see people move on to something else. I agree that taking the fighting away was necessary and the games become ridiculous gong shows at times. But there was an undoubted entertainment factor for many that was taken away. Want to know what does bring people back and get them excited to go to the next game in a way that the financial aspect gets a little leniency? Someone paying that $22 but seeing a hard working team that makes the fan proud of their effort. Feeling like the team appreciates playing for the community. The team organization meaning management and game day ops all seem to understand what is needed to achieve success. There's none of that here. But we're negative. Because we just see it for what it is.

The majority of us on this board are used to heartache, as probably 90% of diehard fans of any major sports teams are. We are here for the long haul win or lose. A few People here are still going out to game and buying their season tickets after 27 years of not getting over the hump. But the casual who's been listening to 98.3FM or seen on Facebook that "this year will be different" and potentially could have seen themselves splurging on 5-10 games this year instead of 1-2 because they're looking for an exciting entertainment option, just walked out the door after this weekend. There was an decrease of ~1000 fans opening night compared to the Saturday game (for good reason), and it will continue throughout the year now again because of the effort shown on the ice. The people leaving after the first period, second period, and 50/50 draw Saturday, you might not get them back 5-10 times this season, and that's what should be concerning for this business office and ownership group. I'll be at the next game and games after, just like I've been year after year. Ownership needs the casuals coming through the door though desperately, and that's the reason a first impression is a lasting one.

‘Falcon didn’t fly away’
But I’ll be honest it’s really depressing and frustrating coming on here and just seeing people criticize the players who are all TEENAGERS for fuck sake and then it’s the coaches fault after two games. No wait it’s the owners fault. Just so much finger pointing which solves nothing. NOW with that being said I am 100% in agreement that those first two games were flat out unacceptable and I know that it will improve and the team will bounce back. Seasons a roller coaster ride and that was a big time hickkup to start the season but gotta stick with the program here and cheer for better days ahead. I believe this team has the tools to compete for that Mara time division. Won’t happen overnight

If the total score was 13-1 for the opposition and you can't criticize the players or the coach...I guess its our fault they played bad? What do you want to see here after results like that if its not criticizing of the players and/or the coach? That part of it just confuses me.

Why feel the need to criticize at all I guess is my point ? Are you new to the World of Sports ? If the Games were Free , you might be on to something but they are not , so after 25 plus years of supporting the Team with Season Tickets , gives me the right to question things and if that leads to being Critical at times ..........No Apologies for that .
