Should be a great series. Bathurst gave them a hard time for a 4 game sweep, all very tight games. Hopefully the extended break the Volts and Phoenix gave everyone didn't allow the Drakkar to shake off that series.
I said it going into the playoffs; Baie-Comeau is good, but they're one of the most beatable 1st seeds we've had in a while. Can't wait to start watching this series.
Good luck! From one island to another.

One of the biggest days in recent history for Eagles fans. We get to watch our guys compete in the league semi final for the first time since 2007 and the draft lottery will take place before the start of the game with the Eagles holding the 3rd highest odds to get the #1 pick.
Hope everyone enjoys the week of games coming up. I remember coming home after that weekend blowout against Moncton and thinking “here we go again”. To be at the position we are now, just take it all in and enjoy it.

Milota is listed as the starter for the Czech U-18 team today. That is.... odd to say the least. What if Ruccia goes down to injury?

I was watching the game and heard the name mentioned - figured it was just someone with the same name but it appears not to be. Did CB have a third goalie throughout the year? It's odd that CB would let him go while in the thick of things for the playoffs.

I understand wanting to do right by the kid in his draft year, but this organization is trying to make the finals for the first time in its history; they shouldn't be leaving us with a 3rd goalie if something happens to Ruccia. The only thing I can think of is Milota has a clause in his contract requiring his release for the U-18?

I would say there's likely some pre-arranged deal they had around this. Doesn't mean anyone has to like it or agree with it. But hard to argue against doing right by the kid who hasn't played in a while at this point.
But there will absolutely be fingers pointed if it blows up.

Not worried about Milota getting some playing time in for Czechia. I am curious though... if he was our starter right now, it sounds like he'd still have had to go play in the tournament? Which presents a bigger problem down the road lol.

Which presents a bigger problem down the road lol. That's what I was thinking. Imagine if he was your starter, a top scorer or a top defenseman. It would have been tough. Melovsky is too old for that tournament but for Baie-Comeau it would have been a huge loss.

I respect that there is a low chance that a Euro U18 will be on a team going this deep with a mere 4 teams remaining. That being said, this is incredibly strange.
I wonder if this is the case CHL wide now with Euro's and their respective U18 teams?
Anyways, good luck to Milota with Team Czech. He has a lot of talent.

I think we'll learn a lot about this agreement from this example as I feel this is the first anyone is hearing of any agreement like this. Could it be a case where there is exceptions for backup goaltenders or players in lesser roles? I have a hard time believing he'd be gone to play there if he was our #1 for the last 2 months but 17yr old Europeans being the #1 goaltender on a final 4 team and among the top 2-3 goaltenders in that country in that age group is probably pretty rare.

I'm really happy the Eagles put an article out explaining Milota's situation as when I read the roster announcement for Team Czechia a few days back I was extremely concerned and confused as to what was going on, just from an organizational standpoint I like feel this is just another example of the improvements off the ice with the Eagles this season as in the past I'm not so sure they would have released an article explaining things.

I guess he'll be back in Cape Breton if the Eagles play in the final.

Is this a Standard type condition for a Euro opting for the CHL ? or did Cape Breton agree to it ....thinking that by May 1st they would not be playing anyway ?
