I thought Blake was a huge disappointment this afternoon. I don’t think he ever went 5 feet into his own end on any shift, just hung around outside the blue line looking for a pass 🫤. Even in the offensive zone he seemed to have a big fear of going into the corners. Blake seems to have some speed when he wants to, but that didn’t seem to apply to going off the ice on a change with the puck in his end. Slow and looked lazy 🤷♂️. A 16yr old rookie is a huge disappointment after a scrimmage in August? And it starts..... Well, he's presumably playing for a spot on the team - you'd expect *some* effort to try and impress the coaches and his teammates. Even the returning players were concentrating on the scimmage - Levesque especially...

Yeah I find this one a bit odd. It’s a game of mostly rookies getting their feet wet on day 1, and mistakes are made all over the place. One of the few kids that has shown natural abilities (mostly skating) is getting the gears. Let’s see how he looks in a month at least. Were you there watching him? It wasn't mistakes I mentioned, btw...

Prospect doesn’t skate hard enough so as to almost have their muscles give out from over exertion, LAZY!!! Prospect doesn’t come down below the hash marks in their own zone, DEFENSIVE LIABILITY!!!

Also he’s not playing for a spot he has a spot.

Agree with it or not, 16yr olds are immune from criticism their first year in the league. They just are. They're 16 ffs. They get a free pass for a year.
Unless a kid is blantenly not trying or being a cancer to the team. But that would be incredibly rare. If a player had that in them, they likely wouldn't have been drafted.

During the training camp update video posted by the Mooseheads, Scott mentioned Nasreddine as a player that has made the final roster. Now I guess we wait and see about the other two Americans.

"Lazy" and "16 and not in major junior shape" are two completely different things.

Come on man it’s probably the first time he’s played against kids 3 years older than him. That’s actually worse.

Let's get 2024-25 underway folks! Returning after a long hiatus/watching from sidelines.
Reading the Blake comments and while yes it is early, it should be noted that this has been a concern for him since his U15 days. It hasn't changed even when moving to play at MSC. He's an uberb talented kid but competing/playing defensively is a critique that many scouts and GMs had of him leading up to the draft. In the video from draft the team released, I believe they mentioned something along these lines.
I'm intrigued to see how he adapts, there is no question of natural talent. Exhibition games upcoming will be nice to see!

Good little watch. Now that the last inter squad game is over we will hear of kids leaving. The one to watch for is Nico.

Someone said that the Mooseheads brass will look at these boards. The lack of talk about training camp should be deafening. Usually we get a little bit of insight on what people thought about the inter squad games. Crickets!!!!! We actually hear about who left camp for the NCAA reasons by now too. More Crickets!!! Hell I’ll admit I usually try and sneak to see at least one myself but couldn’t be bothered this year. I have a feeling the new owners are going to get a rude awakening on attendance this year. We’ll see what the first exhibition game is like for viewership but I don’t think it will be pretty.

I mean, it's not a big place but probably 75% full...
