Will the Wildcats dress a tough guy this season? They seem to be a small team again and got pushed around in a few games I watched last season..........IMO was a glaring hole for them last season.

I personally would like to see the Cats with a toughguy this year. I think they need to. They were pushed around too much last year. I miss the days of watching fights at the the Coliseum.

This is an East Division problem...no one seemed to have any real tough guys, although St.John's were by far the toughest team to play against (quantity over quality). The Q, like the NHL, is changing and the tough guy role seems to be one that takes the hit. Lots of great middleweights, not very many heavies...if at all with Cormier gone.

The only realy "tough guy" that the Cats have is Remi Lamoureux. But I am not sure if he is going to make the team unless he shows a willingness to drop them. But the other side of the coin is that to gain some toughness you will probably have to give up speed. This season Moncton has picked up a lot more size in their forwards so I don't think toughness will be an issue this year. We might no have a dedicated fighter but the guys I am sure will still go to war for each other.

There really isn't one that will step up. The only guys last year that showed a willingness was Herr, Smith and Goyens. I can't see Flynn using Goyens as a fighter and Smith and Herr probably won't make the team as we have a log jam up front. I am guessing it will (if it happens at all) be Lamoureux.

I wouldn't use Goyens as a fighter. Yeah sure, he stands up for you. Lamoureux would be the best choice from what I hear. If he comes into camp & proves himself, I think there could be a spot made for him. That's something the Cats have lacked. They need to have someone this year.

We also have Daniel Whelan, who played MJAHL as a 16 and 17 year old with Summerside, in camp as an 18 year old who is in the mix for one of the last couple of blueline spots ... he is supposed to be somewhat tough .... also in the mix for one of the last jobs on defense is Bobby Little, an Ontario FA we signed last year - he is a tall, lanky 18 year old.

Thats right. I forgot about Whelan. Seeing as how we gave SNL Spencer for himidn't realise little was a fighter. Isn't he like 6'5?

I don't think anyone necessarily needs to "step up"...the team as a whole is basically a year older and stronger, and more experienced. They won't get pushed around quite as much. It would be nice if Marquardt used his size more often...
That being said, I'd love to see them find a guy who can hold his own on the 4th and be a "go to" fighter.

Those are also options, I don't really know too much about either of them, but I did see Whalen play twice last season while he was in town playing against the Beavers. I wasn't really too impressed with him, but then again, I didn't see him fight..

how bout if Morehouse made it somehow he actully fight once:P I dunno about Morehouse. But seriously if he ends up being our Captain, he's got to stay out of the box & that means no fighting.

BullShit ... he will be captain because of the way he plays ... balls out with no fear. If he changes the way he plays then he simply won't be as effective. He draws opponents into almost as many penalties as he takes ... not many players in the Q do that. If he changes his style ... he won't be a good captain.
