According to the Wildcats website their roster includes three players I have not heard about. James Marcou, Adam Chipman, and Brian Warner. Are these guys more free agents or were they picks?

Bryan Warner played Minor Midget for Moncton last year.

Marcou lead his team in scoring and was the 4th leading scorer in the USHL last year ... his team was the top team in the league in the regular season ... he would be an intriguing addition.

Marcou is certainly interesting. I wonder if he's coming for a quick "look-see" to preserve NCAA eligibility. If that's the case, but he decides to stay for the full camp, I assume he will make the team.

This is turning inot one hell of a camp for the forwards too. I thought that the fighting was going to be mostly done on the defensive side, but by the look of all the FA's they are bringing in it is going to be a fight for most spots. Awesome to see though.

Good point, I guess we'd need to know more about his situation, but I suppose being this late of an addition probably means something else didn't work out. |

Moncton Wildcats sign Devon MacAusland Moncton, NB - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Danny Flynn announced today that Devon MacAusland who was selected in the 2nd round (35th overall) by the Wildcats at the 2007 QMJHL draft has decided to continue his hockey career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey as part of the Moncton Wildcats Hockey Club. Devon played last season for the Moncton Mark’s Work Wearhouse Flyers in the NB/PEI Midget AAA Hockey League where he accumulated 26 goals, 24 assists for 50 points in 35 regular season games. MacAusland, 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds, also played for New Brunswick and finished second in the scoring race at the 2007 Canada Winter Games in February in Whitehorse, Yukon. He amassed 21 points, including eight goals, in six games. “We are excited about Devon’s decision to join the Wildcats. By all reports he is a fierce competitor with an excellent skill level. We feel he has the potential to develop into an outstanding player for us,” said Danny Flynn. Moncton Wildcats training camp will start on August 12 at the Tim Hortons 4 Ice Centre.
