The last two days I have had a chance to see Meceli play ... he really likes to jump up in the play and handles the puck better than any dman we have ... very good skater with a solid build. He suddenly jumps to the head of the pack of non-returning Dmen that aren't named Dimitruk. This kid is also only 18 and so he is clearly a better option than Gomes. I agree. I made the mistake of "judging the player by his pants" and perhaps I shouldn't have. When I first seen his pants I thought to myself, there's an easy cut but he's really impressed me. He also has a pretty good shot.

The intra squad game was my first look at this years crop. I thought Cody Wilson had great hockey sense out there. He seemed to be in the right place at the right time a lot. I'm interested in seeing what he looks like during true caliber Q-Games in late training camp. I hope he sticks long enough. I was impressed by Lamoureux's size and style of play. We need size so bad. Does anyone know if he can fight. Could be an alternative to Herr. IMO everyone who can skate is an alternative to Herr. Herr reminds me of Lyle Odelein when he played for the Penguins

This year's team is bigger, stronger, and a year older. They won't get pushed around quite so much. Although, if someone like Lamoureux steps up, that would be a bonus. I certainly wouldn't waste a roster spot on someone who can only drop the gloves, and can't play hockey. To me, Herr just doesn't cut it as a player. Ideally, we need someone like Tim Spencer, an energy guy for the 4th line who can and will fight, but won't be a liability.

Yeah the quality is a bit low since it is 100 X 100 maximum in the avatar but here's the link to the picture img260.imageshack.us/img260/8121/babygirlvo8.png

Big fan of this guy in the last two games I've seen. I think it was in the 3rd period of Friday's 5 PM game that he put on an impressive display of stickhandling, going around 2 or 3 opponents at his own blueline which was just the icing on the cake of a very good game from him. I also like how he keeps his shot from the point hard and low. He's a very smart player out there and as you mention the fact that he's 18 gives him the inside track to make the team right now.
