Dimitruk should be in the lineup according to the T and T tonight. This is very good news. Yes L'Acadie Nouvelle said he's on his way back after picking up his stuff. Suddenly the defense looks very good for 08-09 and 09-10...Barberio Pianosi Baca Dimitruk plus Wilson is 18 and looking very solid. Is anyone really surpised that Dimitruk is going to be playing in Moncton. As soon as I read last week that he was willing to play in the Q if they could agree on how much money Moncton would give him I considered him on the team. It is setting a dangerous precedent though and now any top young prospects should be expecting some extra money from Moncton before they play for them.

He's not getting any money, they put things in place for his education if he doesn't have a pro career, you make it sound like somebody is giving him a suitcase full of money.

I think that precedent was set a long time ago. Top prospects get bigger education packages....it's been the norm for years now.

I think it was comendable that he took a good look at both options. He also went to a College/University camp as well according to the T&T. I give him full marks for doing his research before comming to a decision. Plus I think the decision he made was a GREAT one.

The education package could simply be a full ride scholarship to any university in the world (with or without an expiry date) from Midland Transport (or Cavendish Farms ... or Majesta ... or Master Packaging ... or Irving Oil ... or JD Irving ... or or or or .... ) ... a simple tax deduction for a multi-million dollar company. HF99 makes it sound like Moncton is going to run out of money ... when it likely does not even appear on the Wildcat's books ... legally. The Q cannot stop a separate corporation from giving a kid money for his education ... corporations do that all the time.

There are endless possibilities for how these deals could be structured, especially within the Irving empire ... maybe part of the package is that if some of these kids go on to become NHL stars, they will make X number of appearances per year on behalf of one or more of the Irving companies, appear in ads, etc ...

Don't believe for a second that Moncton is the only team offering "enhanced" education packages to high end prospects, or even that that they set the "bar". I think if you asked the MacAusland camp why it took so long for them to commit, you might be told they held out for a deal just like Tessier got in Quebec last year.
The bar is set outside of Moncton. I'm just thankful we have an owner that is committed to providing a winning team and will not settle for mediocrity.
