so you have 5 F to cut one 20 Lincourt , then Brad Smith , then Jason Lepage , Murdock MacLellan , then either Brenton or eagles Eagles won't get cut, they may trade him for a decent draft pick and go with a bigger or younger player, but he won't just get cut. He's good enough to play top 6 on at least half the teams in the Q and could score 30 if he stays healthy.

I'm not saying they are the same calibre of players, but I am comparing them because they both had/have health issues.

I find it strange that Eastman already made the team after only playing in the rookie camp. They must already have planned on him making the team before the camp even started if that's the case. I mean, he should still have to prove himself among the veterans. I find Miceli who's 18 yrs old proved himself to be worthy of at least a 7th or 8th spot on the D corps but he got cut without even an exhibition game appearance. Eastman, on the other hand, is 19 and has barely played. There must be something special about him. A Mac made the team as a free agent 19 yr old but he had been waiting for an NCAA scholarship. Does anybody know if Eastman was doing the same?

A few guys who played tonight should be cut pretty soon...Boyle Tolles Little Goyens on defense, Wilson and Dimitruk are the only 2 that look to belong in the Q.
Smith had a decent game, but at 19, there is no room in Moncton, same for Lepage.
Labelle looked lazy and disinterested until that nice PP goal. Lincourt had his moments. Sill is Gaudet will less hands, not more. Lavigne had a strong game in nets, looks to be a notch above the others I have seen so far. watson won some points, Brannon had his moments...Brenton scored and did pretty well on PK. Brezak looks like a keeper, lots of similarities to Karsums minus 10lbs. Brown is disapointing me, I know he is capable of a lot more.

Boy is it nice to have hockey back!
The defense looked horrible, but I didn't expect much better considering who suited up. I thought Lavigne played well, especially considering he just arrived. It's tough to judge a goalie on one game, but I would think he has the inside track on the back-up job now.
Watson sure got pounded....I didn't see what (if anything) provoked the fight, but I don't think dropping the gloves is really in his game.

Watson and Little both got their a**'s handed to them. Lepage got the take down on his man. Saint john won the first two decisively IMO. (Landing the final blows) The last fight had a few punches but nothing to serious.

When I first saw the gamesheet I thought to myself sh*t this might get ugly in a hurry!! Missing our 3 best D and entire first line....but the guys handled themselves well and fought til the end. Saint John had pretty much their entire roster for this year..(If memory serves me...the only D missing was Sauve). And their 2 best scorers were in the lineup. Jordan Knox didn't really impress me from their lineup, but number 10 did...he was all over the place tonight. Depres and Stich really stood out tonight as well...especially Depres rushing ability for a 16 yr old. Watson may have stole himself a spot on the team with his play tonight...and for Tolles,Goyens,Little,Boyle and B.Smith...thanks for attending camp.

That defence corps was pathetic tonight. If there's more than 2 defenceman from the game that make the starting roster, there's a problem. Boyle is too slow, Tolles is pretty lost, Little may as well be 5 foot 6 and Goyens tries to play way beyond his capabilities.
At forward, I think the best guys were Bezak, Brannon, Sill and Brenton. I'm glad to see Brannon hit like that, there was a huge lack of physicality from the team last season but I think with Sill, Brannon, Lessard and Marquardt, we'll be seeing some big hits this year. Bezak plays a very north american style of game and I have no fear that the european situation will turn out like it did last year. That was a great pass reception on his goal. Watson just couldn't get things going with his linemates but I'm sure he'll get another few exhibition games. I'm not sure about him making the team though cause there's not really any room for him on the top two lines and I can't see him playing a checking role, so I think a guy like MacLellan has a headstart on Watson.

Watson is such an enigma....I think he really needed a year of Junior A level competition under his belt before trying to make the jump to the Q.

I think Watson has enough skill to keep as a 4th line/reserve role. Stevens Brown MacAusland are 3, I'd take Watson in that role ahead of Lepage or Smith for sure given his hands and age. He could explode at 19 like Partrick Yetman or Jason King.

Thats exactly what I would be afraid of with Watson...cut him loose and he becomes the next P.Yetman!! He showed good vision and sweet saucer passes tonight, and even though he got his a** handed to him he showed a willingness to defend himself. That shootout goal was a goalscorers goal.(Why doesn't he shoot more often??)
