They kept Lavigne which means Bolduc will be cut when Riopel is 100%. Also, I'm disgusted with the Watson cut. I'd take him over Lepage in a heartbeat. you're probably right about Watson over Lepage, but during saturday night's game in saint john, Lepage certainly showed a lot more desire to be on the team than Watson. maybe thats what the decision was based on. who knows? It makes no sense to keep a 19 year old on the 4th line and press box, at least Watson has Flynn said part of the problem in SJ is they didn't have 20 healthy players because of injuries and the flu, they actually asked to cancel the game but SJ declined. Apparently the flu is going through the team plus they have 6-7 guys with minor injuries.

I guess the least I would consider is parking Marcus on a JrA team while this team figures out what they want to become. If some forwards don't perform early or if the 20's get traded, then he available and not lost. Hell it might even make me watch some JrA.

Which 18 yr olds do we have that are better than Eagles? I'm sure you'll say Cameron, Labelle, Lessard, etc. You'd probably be right too cause they all have more upside and pro potential. But as of right now, if Eagles stays healthy, he will get more points than those guys on a scoring line regarless of who plays with who. Watson had better upside and size. Eagles is as big and as good as he will be. I guess every coach has his favorites but Watson should still be there. What is it about Eagles that bothers you so much. He will play on the top two lines and, barring injury, will be dominant, moreso that any rookie.

They want Lavigne but they have to work out a deal for compensation to his OHL team. They technically still own his rights. $$$$

I think they will wait for Marquardt to be reassigned by columbus before making a move on the 20 year olds, one might be traded.

Herr signed with the team, but they might put him up front and spot him there as needed from what I hear.

Marquardt/Lincourt-Mangan-Bezak Labelle-Cameron-Eagles Brannon-Sill-Morehouse Lessard-MacLellan-Brenton MacAusland Brown Stephens It will be hard enough to find ice time for Brown and Macausland let alone Herr.

I really am not sure on releasing Watson. I know he was a FA from last season but I thought he looked better then Brenton. Brenton has the wheels but still can't seem to finish. I bet those were tough calls to make though, Cutting Lepage and Watson.

Brenton has easily been one of the 5 best players in camp ... and he has been finishing far better than Watson has been ... what has Watson done better ? Brenton is also an excellent PK guy and an excellent forechecker and has a full year of Q experience ... and is a tireless worker in the mold of Chris Morehouse. Watson and Brenton are also the same age ... so the choice was easy.

I bet those were tough calls to make though, Cutting Lepage and Watson. As much as this is another "development" year, we only have so much room and ice time for players like Watson. Brenton, I think, will learn to play within Flynn's system faster than Watson, and is able to be on the PK. Actually, I think Brenton could be crazy dangerous on the PK as he gains more experience and learns to finish his scoring chances. If you don't have room for Watson to play with offensive linemates, I think Brenton is the more useful 3rd/4th line role player. EDIT: Err, yeah, what steveul said. Damn my slow typing and leisurely coffee drinking....

Watson showed a lot more finish in the intersquads, he may have been the best forward there, he did not really stand out in the 3 exhibitions though.

Brenton is doing what he will do all year and Watson will get better every day. They are about even now. Its also one less Munchkin that the Kindigarden cop will have to enforce for.
