This much have been the same instance as about 10 guys behind the bench put there hands up in the air to imitate Jean. That was hilarious.

Very good effort by the Cats tonight. I was expecting it to be very rough with maybe the yearly Moncton/PEI line brawl taking place, but it was pretty tame. I'm almost dissapointed that PEI didn't play their best cause I was hoping for a close back and forth game but it definitely could have been that if it weren't for Riopel. He played a great game but now the big test is to see if he can follow it up with another big game cause consistency has been his biggest problem. Marquardt has been impressing quite a bit since his return. I'm almost starting to expect at least one highlight reel goal from him every game. He's going to be making a lot of defencemen look bad this year. Morehouse's line missed so many opportunities tonight, especially Sill. He'll probably develop more finish as he adjusts but Morehouse usually capitalizes on his chances and Brannon was a big scorer in Midget. The bad ice also had a big part in it though. I'm confident this line will contribute more as the season moves along. Gomes looked better this game and he showed he made some more nice passes. I think he'll be fine as long as he doesn't try to do too much. Baca also looked okay but he's gonna have to improve his first pass as he missed often enough. He's not scared to shoot though and that's good cause nobody ever wanted to shoot from the point last year. It's painful to watch Pianosi start a breakout, he takes like 10-15 seconds every time. And they usually end up failing anyways. I remember he was like that last year too. I think he waits for everything to be perfect but he's even doing it on the powerplay when there isn't even an opponent waiting for him in front of the net. hope they work on this through the year cause it's really slowing down the transition game. They're never gonna catch the other team offguard with 15 second breakouts. Not that I really care, but Hodge had some weird 3 star selections. Riopel is obvious but I think MacLellan stood out more than Brannon or Eastman. The problem with their break outs, especially on the PP is they always use the same damn set play. Sometimes there is a nice seem to move the puck and the d-man retreats behind his net waiting for the other d-man and center to come back, it takes like 10-15 seconds to get set up and excecute.

Would it kill them to try something other then the dump and chase? They did it a few times against Drummondville and got rewarded. Passes at the blue line or carry it in then pass. I'm not saying stop the dump and chase all together I mean it works 9/10 times for guys like Morehouse and Brenton but on the PP if you screw it up it's an easy dump out for the D man who retrieves the puck.

With a lack of skill ... dump and chase is the most effective way of getting the puck in and forcing the Dmen to race for it ... its effective for us so why should we change it. When we try to carry it in we lose it before we get to the blueline.

I agree, which is why it's nice to see the third and fourth line do it like I said in my original post(Brenton and Morehouse) however on the power play and with our top two lines we should be able to get it in some other way, if we don't have enough skill on our top two lines to stay away from the dump and chase just a little bit then we need to join a high school hockey league and maybe we can compete with Odyssee and Tantramar.
