that you want to see with the team Thursday night?
After a pretty busy schedule, the Wildcats finally get a nice break and I'm sure that with this current 3 game slide, Flynn's head is full of ideas on how to improve the team and snap the losing streak?
A couple of things that I can think of:
- I want to see the players rotate positions on the ice when puck control is established in the offensive zone during the powerplay. The guys can set it up and they can pass it around, but their feets don't move. You gotta get the oppositions' box to move if you want to create chances!
- More toughness from the defense in front of the net. Opposition crashes the net too often without anyone punishing them for it. A message has to be sent. Don't do it in a stupid way that will get you a penalty though. Facewashes acceptable (watch out for Clendenning vs. Bathurst, apparently he judges those pretty harshly! ;D)
- Simply put: Shots. The more, the better. Low shots that give rebound opportunities.
- The defensive box during the pk is too passive. I would like to see them chase a little more and pressure the opposition. If you remain standing like the Wildcats seem to always do, either you will get beaten by a point man who knows his stuff or a team who can pass the puck around like there's no tomorow.
That's all I can think of. Anyone else?

Hi guys, I'm no hockey coach but thought I would give an outside observation from watching the game on Sunday. I personally could not see a huge difference in the Cats team compared to Lewiston other then Lewiston players were willing to grit it out more in the corners and not let up offensively on whatever player they were attatched too. Not the same team at all as last years MAINEiacs due to obvious reasons, but I cannot find another strategy that could have worked for Lewiston with this young team. Moncton does not seem to be that far off from being in the same type of position as Lewiston in its seasoned players department. Moncton has a select few who can actually score and some rookies who are unaware of their potential yet, evident by the game recap of Moncton's goals and assists on Sunday. Gritting it out and keeping on your guy as tough as it may be, wearing down your guy (opponent) and passing to your top scoring leaders whenever possible and being willing to take the play to the net. It seemed that Lewiston was a bit more patient with their grit then Moncton and also shots on goal is very important as stated in the earlier post. It did help Lewiston with 2 goals on early PP's for sure. But patients and perseverance ( a not so easy thing for a rookie) was the difference in this game in my opinion of course. Good luck in your next game and season. And may I ad that Sunday was a VERY exciteing game!!!

The line between playing well enough to win and poor enough to loose isn't all that great in the Q. I wonder how difficult it was for the Cats to play so many games in a short span...especially when your motto is to outwork the other team. Look what happened to Anahiem to start the season. They had a brutle schedule and it showed. There may be other reasons but when you have to play a gritty style of hockey and outwork your opponents that's pretty tough to do when you ram in so many games along with travelling home by bus in the middle of the night. I think the fans should lighten up a bit and realize it's a lot tougher than you think. Hopefully thursday brings fresh legs and minds. ps mistakes always ocurr when your tired! No excuses just the reality of a crappy schedule.

Lets not forget, you don't have a great team this year...you're going to lose to weak teams once in a while. Every team will.

I agree with most of all that has been written here so far, but those are some things that I've been seeing since game 1 of the season in Bathurst.
As we all know, the powerplay has been God awful, ever since the first game of the season.
The same thing for the penalty kill.
In game one vs. Bathurst, in the 3rd period, the Titan started attacking the net relentlessly which meant that any rebound that went further then a foot and a half by Riopel was on an opposing player's stick. Things haven't been much better since.
As for the shots, they have gone lower, and that might be blamed partly on the fatigue. However, there is no doubt that the team will have to make some changes if they want to keep up with the leaders of the division.
