Well a big test for the Cats. First place Screaming Eagles coming into town. Cats are coming off a 3-1 loss at home to the Baie Comeau Drakkar on Thursday night. The Screaming Eagles are coming off a 5-4 OT loss in Lewiston on Friday night.
Will the Cats break out of their slump? Riopel in nets. I predict a close game with the Cats winning 4-3 in a shootout.

Riopel in nets and plays an outstanding game but the Screaming Eagles are too much for the Cats to handle. 4-1 Eagles and Riopel gets the third star.

Prior to the start of the season, everyone and his dog (myself included) had the Eagles finishing last........... now I'm seeing posts like this........ about how we're gonna be "too much to handle"........ and posts on the Lewiston board about how it was an enormous upset that the MAINEiacs knocked off "the #1 team in the Q". Real Eagles are somewhere in the middle, but still funny to see it go from last place predictions all over the place to "too much to handle" and being called "Goliath" on the Lewiston board....... based on September/October play. I'll say Moncton in a shootout for tomorrow's game.

I keep waiting for the clock to hit midnight for the Eagles, but they seem to have found a way to stop time EVENTUALLY they will come back to earth and their record should even out, much like Moncton's has. Right now they are on pace for 06-07 MAINEiac type numbers, and that's unrealistic.

It's still only mid-October........ lots of teams' good starts over the years have extended this far into the season before they finally fizzled out and fell back to earth. Shawinigan last year was a bottom team, but got off to a really good start that I think extended about this far. I think about this time last year they were top 2 or so in the Telus. Of course shortly thereafter they fell back to earth and ended up finishing third-last ; about where people thought they would. I think we're better than last year's Shawinigan team was, just using them as an example of how these "hot starts" can actually last this long.

Overachieving first half, young goalie.. the Eagles will eventually fall back to earth. But you guys didn't fall back to earth until around February last year. By that point, it's already considered an excellent season. Anyway back to today's game. Any notable guys out of Moncton's lineup? What are your line combos looking like? Any insight as to what changes the coaching staff could make going into today's game to get the Cats' offense going again? On our side, you'd think we'll be starting Olivier Roy in goal after he was given the night off on Friday in Lewiston. Alex Lamontagne should be back in the lineup, as he served the fifth and final game of his suspension on Friday. Our lines have been: Culligan-Ouellet-Slaney MacNeil-Laberge-Haddad Quesnel-Gauthier-Chouinard/P Fontaine Gouchie Or something like that - the first two lines are pretty set in stone anyway. Our PP has had lots of success so far in this young season and I think ranks #1 in the league at the moment (definitely a stat that will eventually fall back to earth). However, it's also given up four shorthanded goals.

Riopel will be in nets and I hope to see Roy in nets for you guys. Anxious to see the kid play as he seems to be a good one.
