Saint John Sea Dogs Head Coach/General Manager Jacques Beaulieu announced today that the team has acquired Alexandre Picard-Hooper from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in exchange for a handful of draft picks. The trade sees Saint John’s third and fifth round Entry Draft picks in 2008 head to Baie-Comeau, as well as a third round selection in ‘09. Saint John picks up the Drakkar’s sixth round pick in ’09 in the trade in addition to Picard-Hooper.

The addition of Picard-Hooper is huge but the question is which player goes back to BC at Christmas. Me thinks that Saint John as a little desperate and could have paid a little too high a price for a 20 yr old, especially with the base of talent they are building, but we will see.
Either way it just made this division even closer and more interesting.

It will be one of their young and good guys, I'd imagine......probably a dman since they have a lot of them........they are talking Amoyt on the SJ board, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were one of their top guys. ......I could also see them flipping him to a contender at Christmas for a couple young players for next year also.

This is a quote by JB from this mornings paper in Saint John....from this it would seem they won't be losing any roster players in this deal "We didn't want to give up a young player," he said. "By giving up draft picks we paid quite a bit for (Picard-Hooper), but we feel we've added a premier player to our lineup."

Anything is possible, that I know...just passing on the info that we had in the local rag...you don't believe everything you read in the papers? *edit* I even said " it would seem" not it's carved in stone.

I don't think they paid too steep a price at all.. I applaud the move. This sitting back and waiting until xmas and refusing to move quality young guys to improve your lineup is bullshit management... yes that's referring to you Mr Savard

Even worse. Pomerleau went to SJ's for no compensation.

If a happy Picard-Hooper shows up in Saint John, that is a HUGE boost. If he "clicks" with someone on the roster (no hiding that it didn't hurt him to be on a line with Bouchard hehe), they're going to have a hell of a first line...I'm trying to think of the wingers there...Gauthier?? Sparling is a center isn't he?? Anyway, great pickup (at the risk of repeating myself, if he shows up and is happy...unless that is already a done deal??)

I imagine he'll play with DiDominico who had something like 75 points last year.
