Complacent D and complacent G. This one was over in a hurry. In a closer game Mayer makes a few more of those saves IMO.
The boys couldn't seem to keep it together while leading by 6 or 7...go figure.

Good to see the boys break the record for most goals in a game...would have been more satisfied with 2 or 3 against, but it's hard to think defence when your in double digits....two hat tricks and not a single hat on the ice... whats up with that??

Of all the nights I wasn't wearing a hat. Go figure. How about Despres with 5 assists. Dido only got one shift in the 3rd which was in the very beginning. No need to put him out in that kind of game.
Whats the deal on Picard?

Sea Dogs set new goals mark in rout of Rocket
Andrew McGilligan Telegraph-Journal Published Saturday January 19th, 2008 Appeared on page C14
SAINT JOHN - The final score in the Saint John Sea Dogs game Friday versus the Prince Edward Island Rocket looked more like a football score when it ended.
The Sea Dogs grounded the Rocket 12-6 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action in front of 4,535 fans at Harbour Station.
Payton Liske and Michael Kirkpatrick had three goals each while Francois Gauthier added a pair for Saint John. Scott Howes, Chris Di Domenico, Steven Anthony and Matthew Stoddard chipped in with singles. Chad Locke, Bradley Gallant, Martin Latal, Myles Gomes, Jan Kana and Matthew Lachaine replied for P.E.I.
Saint John head coach and general manager Jacques Beaulieu thought the game could have been played at another venue.
"We should have played on Lily Lake tonight, it was just one of those games," he said referring to the wide open, pond hockey style of play.
Saint John wasted no time taking the lead and adding to it. The Sea Dogs were up 2-0 less than three minutes into the game after Liske jammed the puck past Rocket starter Martin Gelinas at the side of the goal on the power play for a 1-0 lead.
Howes made it 2-0 at 2:54.
Saint John scored its second power play marker at 7:26 of the first to make it 3-0. Gauthier one-timed a cross-crease feed from Ryan Sparling behind Gelinas.
The Rocket got one back late in the first on the man advantage.
The Sea Dogs got the goal right back. After some nice moves and shot by Alexandre Leduc, Anthony pounced on the rebound and shoveled in a backhand for a 4-1 edge.
Gelinas was under siege in the opening frame, with Saint John registering several quality scoring chances and connecting on approximately 31 per cent of its shots.
The roles were reversed at the start of the second period. Latal picked the top corner over the glove of Mayer to cut the lead to 4-2 at 1:33.
Saint John restored the three-goal lead at 4:32 of the middle frame. Keven Charland won a race for a loose puck and sent a behind the back pass to Liske. The Ontario native lifted the puck over Gelinas' glove for his second of the game.
Stoddard got into the act at the midway mark of the game. He took a pass from Mike Thomas and fired a wrist shot past the Rocket netminder for a 6-2 Saint John lead. Just over a minute later Di Domenico notched his 30th goal of the year to make it a five-goal differential.
Kirkpatrick scored on a sharp angle shot that surprised Gelinas at 13:46. The high-scoring second continued when Gomes found the back of the net for P.E.I. at 14:15 to cut the lead to 8-3.
The teams traded goals with just over three minutes to go. Kirkpatrick scored his second of the game for Saint John while Kana replied for the Rocket to push the score to 9-4.
The third period started with Evan Mosher in goals for P.E.I.
Kirkpatrick completed his first QMJHL-career hat trick at 2:11 of the third to make it 10-4.
"The boys were all excited and it was a pretty good feeling," Kirkpatrick said of his hat trick marker.
Liske got his hat trick goal at 6:24 to make the score 11-4 for the Sea Dogs. The goal also set a Saint John franchise record for most goals in a game. The record would be broken just minutes later.
Gauthier notched the Sea Dogs 12th marker just past the midway mark on the team's 38 shot of the night.
Locke and Gallant capped off the scoring with P.E.I.'s fifth and sixth goals of the game late in the third. The Sea Dogs take on the Val-d'Or Foreurs tonight at 7 p.m. at Harbour Station before traveling to Halifax to take on the Mooseheads Sunday in a 4 p.m. start.
