is he getting lots of ice??? I am hearing his rights will be going from Summerside to Pictou County... who are interested and have quite a offer for him (more $)

He is getting regular ice time right now. I don't think he will be going anywhere. I think McNeil is one of our more underrated players, he is pretty solid defensively.

Yeah, though he's lower on the depth chart, he's an important piece to the Dogs this year. Not flashy, but dependable. Just what you need on a bottom-pairing guy.

I don't see anyway he's going anywhere this year for sure unless he's traded but I doubt that happens either he's worth more to the Sea Dogs then anyone would likely pay for him.

Perhaps someone should ask Macneil himself. This does not always have to be a hockey related issue. This has been brewing for sometime and whether he leaves or not I have no idea but I personally think it would be a huge lose, he has really been dependable this year.
Also looking at what we are going to do this week now that this is definitely a go for it year. Do we trade guys like Thomas and Stoddard and look for another defenseman or forward? Both guys could play third line on other teams for sure. Hate to lose either of them but I am sure they want to play somewhere. JB could probably get something pretty decent for them.

I think MacDonald will be a good one down the road but I wouldn't want him in our regular pairings come playoff time. I do believe this is overreacting though. voiceofytown just asked a question. Jr. A teams trade player rights. It happens. MacNeil likely will not be around next year as a 20 for us, so it's worth a gamble. Plus voiceofytown typically posts to ask Jr. A related questions about Q players whose rights are owned by certain Jr. A teams. Anyone remember the big Clendenning going to Jr. A. for a boatload of cash rumors?  |

Don't know why he'd be wanting to go anywhere...seems to be a regular on the team and plays his role very well....likely he'd get more ice on another team like Pictou, but with lots less exposure.

McNeil would be foolish to leave this year, and might be able to get himself a spot for next year on another team with a successful second half and playoffs. |

I think MacDonald will be a good one down the road but I wouldn't want him in our regular pairings come playoff time. quote] MacDonald has gotten some semi-regular shifts this past weekend with Despres gone....and he actually looks to have stepped up his game quite a bit since September, and even since that road trip where Stich and Amyot were out of the lineup and we played 2 games on the rock with 4 d-men at the first of Nov. I think he's progressing along just about where we should expect.....I wasn't so sure he was the right guy when October ended, but he will be an alright defenceman for us in the future I have to agree. |
