I took your advice and I talked to JB. He said you are right I will give Thomas more ice time. Oh my!!!! first star again. Berner I hope your evaluation of women is better than your evaluation of players. Go Dogs Go. Maybe you should pass the word on to Coach Beaulieu, he obviously needs advice on how to get the most out of his players. After all, the team is only in third place, one point behind the two front-runners. Looks like he could use all the advice he could get. Hey reddogbluedog, PLEASE clarify what you mean by that comment, because I can't remember that I made some kind of player evaluation, and a bigger fan of Mike Thomas you may be hard-pressed to find. I don't know what you mean by that, but I think you're possibly talking out of your arse. Some things never change.

DOGS WIN SHOWDOWN QMJHL: Saint John gains sole possession of second place in East with 4-2 decision over Halifax
Andrew McGilligan Telegraph-Journal Published Saturday December 15th, 2007 Appeared on page C14
SAINT JOHN - In a game that had the feel and grittiness of a playoff contest, it was the Saint John Sea Dogs defeating the Halifax Mooseheads 4-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
Francois Gauthier, Mike Thomas, Matthew Stoddard and Alexandre Leduc scored for Saint John in front of 4,168 fans at Harbour Station. Peter-James Corsi and Nicholas Goyens replied for Halifax.
With the win Saint John moves into second place in the Eastern division behind the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Leduc said the game was an intense one for the players.
Cape Breton edged St. John's 4-3 in Sydney. Elsewhere, Moncton shaded Acadie-Bathurst 3-2.
"That was a huge two points and we needed to finish strong at home before Christmas," Leduc said. "We looked a little tired in the first, but we fought back and worked for the win."
The Sea Dogs got the best scoring chance in the opening minutes when Di Domenico was all alone in front of Mooseheads starter Pier-Olivier Pelletier. However, the teams leading scorer fired the puck over the net.
Sparks flew around the midway point of the period when Sea Dogs forward Scott Howes laid a big hit on Halifax's Gabriel O'Connor. The hit forced O'Connor from the contest and resulted in some shoving between the clubs.
Things got even more out of hand minutes later after a big hit from Yann Sauve caused a stir that resulted in captain Alex Grant dropping the gloves with Goyens. The scrap was the result of Goyens slashing and shoving Di Domenico after the whistle.
The Mooseheads best scoring chance came when Daniel Smith was hauled down on a partial break and awarded a penalty shot. Sea Dogs starter Travis Fullerton wasn't forced to make a stop as Smith lost the handle trying a deke.
The rough stuff continued late in the frame when Sea Dogs tough guy Brett Gallant squared off with Shawn O'Donnell. The tilt was a one-sided affair with Gallant landing the biggest shots and giving O'Donnell a few punches with both his left and right fists.
The hard-nosed play kept the game scoreless through the first.
The second period started with Saint John being awarded a penalty shot after some hard work on the penalty kill by Gauthier. The 19-year-old made no mistake firing the puck through the five-hole of Pelletier for a 1-0 Sea Dogs lead at 1:59 of the middle frame.
The penalty shot marker seemed to spark the Saint John offence. Just under four minutes later, Thomas stole the puck off a Halifax defender and roofed his third goal in two games over the blocker of Pelletier for a 2-0 lead.
The New Maryland product said his recent scoring streak has more to do with the guys around him than his own play.
"Everyone seems to working hard and I'm just following along," he said. "It was a really important game and we came out and did our job."
Moments after the goal, a third fight broke out with David Stich and Bryce Swan dropping the mitts. The tilt involved more clutching and grabbing than punches thrown with Stich taking Swan down.
The Mooseheads tied the game 2-2 with a pair of goals in less than a minute. Corsi cut the lead to 2-1 with a power play marker at 16:36 followed by the tying goal off the stick of Goyens at 17:05.
The tie didn't last long as Stoddard fired a shot that deflected of a Halifax defender and in at 17:49 for a 3-2 Saint John edge.
The third period saw Fullerton shine, making several 12 of his 28 saves in the final frame to preserve the win. Leduc added an empty net insurance marker at 19:53 to make the final 4-2 in favour of the Sea Dogs.
SCRATCHES: Three Saint John forwards were out of the lineup Friday versus the Mooseheads. Ryan Sparling missed the game due to a shoulder injury and a pair of ailing knees kept Alexandre Picard and Steven Anthony from suiting up. Goaltender Robert Mayer missed the game due to his participation in the World Junior tournament with Switzerland.
VISIT: Halifax Moosheads owner and Montreal Canadiens star Bobby Smith was at Harbour Station Friday taking in the game.

That game last night was intense...the lady sitting beside me was about 2 seconds from a heart attack for the entire third period lol. Awesome job by Fullerton between the pipes, I would have given him the first star...although I have no problem with Thomas getting it, and in hindsight maybe that was the right choice, but I was surprised when they called his name second.
The boys showed that they have some of that team toughness that people were saying we lacked. The Grant and Stich fights weren't exactly "rock 'em sock 'em matches, but at least the guys will stand up for each other when needed and not turn the other cheek and skate away. The Gallant fight was a good one and it was a nice effort by O'Donnell, but when his bucket flew off it was over for him....he took a few good shots, but he was a willing participent...kudos to him(30 min. mark of webcast)
The penalty shots were brutal calls IMO, but at least we got a shot on ours....Smith didn't impress Daddy much on that one. POP looked like he has in the shootouts I've seen ...enough said.
The Liske shot was a goal...do we have cameras in the rafters over the nets? I looked for them, but couldn't find any. I think all rinks should have them installed, or get rid of the review if there is no camera angles to make the call from!!
Nice to beat the Moose again, and hopefully we can get 2 more points tomorrow with Passingham in the net. He looked nervous last night just sitting there, but I'm sure the boys will work hard for him if he gets the start. GO DOGS GO!!

If that's the one you are referring to that was clear post on the outside of the net. If anything was a goal, it would be the Halifax goal they reviewed at the end of the 2nd period. Me, along with just about everyone else I talked to were pretty sure that hit the white part of the net and popped back out. The cameras are directly above the nets on both ends. All arenas in the Q have them.

As far as the camera issue thanks, I thought they were up there but as I said we looked and couldn't find them. Didn't end up being a factor in the outcome this time, but could have been a problem in the future. It seems strange if there are more views they are NEVER shown. We sit in the Alpine room from time to time and the same review angle is always shown on the monitors.

In the press box and in one of the corners in the east end, they have their own television sets with direct links to the goal judges and referee, and they are the only ones that can see the overhead camera.

Just watching the replay on Rogers Television now ... and it hardly looked like Smith was on a breakaway ... Amyot was basically right beside him !

Liske's hit the webbing inside the net, whereas the Halifax one missed by enough that it shouldn't have been reviewed.

They can show plays from overhead cameras, but they can't show the actual review. They did show the reviews last year on the big screen, but got shit on by the league.

Liske's shot was definitely not in. Some people around me thought it was, including a Moose fan, but it sure didn't look like it went in from where I was sitting.
