SEA DOGS TO HOST MOOSEHEADS AT HARBOUR STATION ON SATURDAY NIGHT The Mooseheads have won both of their meetings with the Sea Dogs thus far this season, with the last game ending in controversy after a questionable third period goal by Halifax was allowed, sending the contest into overtime where the visitors prevailed by a score of 6-5 at Harbour Station on November 8. PLAYER TO WATCH: Halifax forward Jacub Voracek was a top ten pick at last summer’s NHL Entry Draft (Columbus Blue Jackets), and has put up some very impressive numbers since returning to the Q on October 5. The toys will then be collected and donated to various local charities. Fans purchasing a Sea Dogs Second-Half Season Ticket on or before December 1 will receive a complimentary ticket to this game, as well as the Saint John vs. P.E.I. match on Sunday, December 2. Prior to Saturday’s game, the first SEA DOGS SUPER HERO EXPERIENCE will take place at Harbour Station, with two local minor hockey teams, the Saint John Atom A Flames and the Fredericton Atom A Devon Lumber Kings, set to play an exhibition match in which the full-game experience of a Sea Dogs home game is replicated, including announcements, player entrance, music, etc. For more information on the Sea Dogs Super Hero Experience, call Sea Dogs Ticket Manager Shanna Aker at (506) 632-8159. Saturday’s game will also feature a LOTTO 649 HAPPY DANCE CONTEST during the second intermission. Hope you leave the sign lady in Halifax; Don't want her and little wolf getting "envolved" Screw that man! Those signs are usually funny as hell and I hope to see some. I think you just don't like her there because at your age the signs get harder and harder to read.

And, to top it off, one hell of a third. Definitely shouldn't have gotten that empty netter (Dido tripped), but the game was definitely over by that point.

SEA DOGS WIN THRILLER AT HARBOUR STATION
Saint John Defeats Halifax 4-2 In Front of Over Five Thousand Fans
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Saturday, December 1, 2007
SAINT JOHN, NB --- The Saint John Sea Dogs earned arguably their biggest win of the season on Saturday night, defeating the top-ranked team in the QMJHL, the Halifax Mooseheads, by a score of 4-2 at Harbour Station.
In a back-and-forth affair that saw tremendous action at both ends of the ice throughout sixty minutes of highly entertaining hockey, Saint John was able to score a trio of third period tallies to emerge victorious in the elite divisional showdown, earning their first win over Halifax this season in the process.
Overage forward Scott Howes was named the game’s First Star on Saturday after scoring twice on four shots to pace the Sea Dogs attack.
“This was definitely a huge win for us,” said Howes following the impressive home win. “Halifax is one of the top teams in the country and it means a lot to be able to earn two points against a tough squad like that, especially in front of our home fans.”
Steven Anthony and Ryan Sparling also scored for Saint John on Saturday, while both of Halifax’s goals came courtesy of star forward Jakub Voracek.
Veteran goalie Travis Fullerton earned the win between the pipes for the Sea Dogs on Saturday night, turning aside 31 of the 33 shots he faced to improve his team’s record to 18-7-1-2 on the season.
After the match opened with several minutes of relatively tentative play from each squad, the Sea Dogs earned a series of solid scoring chances during a power play in the middle of the first period, getting of several shots from close range that starting Mooseheads net minder Mark Yetman was able to keep from crossing the Halifax goal line by way of some impressively acrobatic goaltending.
Near the nine minute mark of the game, the Mooseheads nearly got on the scoreboard first when Andrew White got off a hard shot that was labelled for the bottom corner of the Sea Dogs net. Fullerton was able to get his left toe on the puck however, keeping things tied 0-0 in doing so. On the ensuing down-ice rush, Steven Anthony set Keven Charland up for a glorious scoring opportunity in the form of a one-timer from six feet out; Yetman was again able to come up with the stop however, as the pace of play continued to escalate dramatically.
Saint John’s first goal of the night came in spectacular fashion, as Howes broke in on Yetman all alone after stealing the puck from a Mooseheads defenseman, making a series of impressive dekes prior to tucking a backhand past Halifax’s goalie to earn his 12th goal of the season.
Halifax tied then things up 7:05 into the second period, with Jakub Voracek tallying his 13th goal of the year on the power play by beating Fullerton with a wrist shot from the slot.
Voracek’s goal proved to be the lone marker of the middle frame, as some stellar work by Fullerton enabled Saint John to reach the forty minute mark all square despite being out-shot 15-3 during the second twenty minutes of play.
Shots on goal were distributed much more evenly in the opening minutes of the third period, with both teams registering prime scoring opportunities early in the frame. Saint John came incredibly close to producing the go-ahead goal near the eight minute mark of the third when Scott Howes and Francois Gauthier got off back-to-back shots from close range that Yetman was miraculously able to keep from crossing the line.
At the 11:45 mark of regulation’s final frame, the Sea Dogs went on their fourth power play of the match when Andrew White was assessed sentenced to two minutes in the penalty box by referee Tim Connors. Saint John made the most of their man-up opportunity, with Ryan Sparling feeding Howes with a nifty cross-ice pass that the 20-year old promptly deposited to the back of the Mooseheads’ net to give the home team a 2-1 lead.
With 5:10 remaining in regulation, the Mooseheads re-tied things at two apiece when Voracek again fooled Fullerton with a long distance wrist shot, earning his second power play goal of the night as the momentum pendulum continued to swing back-and-forth with tremendous rapidity.
Two minutes later Saint John again laid claim to a one-goal advantage when rookie forward Steven Anthony batted home a rebound to earn his fourth goal of the season at a highly opportune time.
A moment later, Ryan Sparling nearly added an insurance tally for the Sea Dogs, ringing a backhand off of Halifax’s goal post on a semi-breakaway.
With 33.6 seconds on the clock, Sparling was able to produce the deal-clinching goal, firing the puck into an open Halifax net to send the 5,019 fans in attendance into a frenzy as the Sea Dogs had clinched a huge victory over the third-ranked team in the country.
Up next for the Sea Dogs is a Sunday afternoon tilt with the P.E.I. Rocket, a team Saint John is 2-0 against so far in 2007-08. The action gets underway at Harbour Station at 4:00pm.
