4.07.3 Game cancelled because of a strike or any other major reason Should a home team be unable to present a regular game due to a strike, power failure, fire or any other major reason of which the Commissioner has been informed while the visiting team is on premises or on its way, then the home team shall reimburse the visiting club all related expenses incurred. The Commissioner shall be informed of the circumstances as soon as they occur. Should the home team dispute the amount claimed by the visiting club, then the Hockey Committee shall verify and determine the amount to be paid. If the claim is not paid by the club within 30 days, the amount shall be paid by the League to the visiting club and deducted from any due by the League to the club at fault. Reimbursement will be minimal since we already had to travel to Quebec anyway for the other games. This rule doesn't state what happens to the game if it gets interrupted part way through either. I still think it was a judgement call as there is no written rule (that I can find) saying what to do here. I can't find anyting else either. The accounting can be very messy indeed. The correct thing would be for them to pay for us to return there. I'd claim the full mileage, hotel, and meals for the trip there and back.

I would love to see the press release and the league's official statement to the team regarding this one.

The commissioner gets FULL DISCRETION. HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN POSTPONE EVEN.

I think it would look something like this:
BOUCHERVILLE, QC
The QMJHL has completely wiped out the Saint John Sea Dogs @ Chicoutimi Sagueneens game because of a power outage. The game was to begin the 3rd period, however, the entire 4 goals that the Sea Dogs scored will be wiped out. Because the Saguneens did not score any goals, they will not be affected.

The commissioner gets FULL DISCRETION. HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN POSTPONE EVEN. I don't think anyone disputes that bjindaho. The part that causes confusion is why the hell did he decide to wipe the game completely and make them play again like nothing ever happened, at the end of the year, if needed? Why not just continue at the start of the third period, same score and stats, and do it when we're up in Quebec again? (like around the date someone else suggested in the end of February)?

It cannot be at the end of the year.
Has to happen within 15 days unless there are complications. Which means the Dogs don't have a choice.

This also really fucks us come playoff time. If you look at all the scheduled games from March 10-16 (16th being last day of regular season), all teams in Quebec play teams in Quebec. All teams in the Eastern play Eastern teams. We also play on the 16th, the last day of the year.
So we'd have to drive up to Chicoutimi and squeeze in that game, drive back to some Eastern destination for the playoffs. Likely with little gap in between there, and completely killing the whole advantage of having the last few games of the regular season played within the division so teams travel is lessened before playoffs.
Oh yeah...9 of our last 12 games of the year were already on the road. Make it 10 of 13 now, with an extra Quebec trip tossed it to boot.
