Mayer made some unbelievable saves tonight. The score could of been atleast 9-3 ( i can think of 2 instances where he saved a goal with a mindboggeling save).

i go with what i think. Im not like everyone else on the boards . Go on the devils board everyone thinks they will win, Wildcats board thinks the wildcats will win, seadogs board usually people say the dogs will win. Im not going to say i think they will win if i dont

Yeah, I have to echo Rick Rick Tocchet's comments. You guys have quite the talent in Mayer. He made some big stops or it could have been 9 or 10 goals by the Devils.
Also, Dido... sick, sick goal. Splits the D and backhands it top shelf. Nice.

At the same time goaltenders need to make these type of saves sometimes or they won't last long in this league they gotta make big saves at times which is why Joyal and Barton didn't last the year.

I must have been watching the wrong game last night. Mayer only facing 6 difficult shots appear to be totally wrong unless they do not count the goals as shots. Even then in the third period alone he was peppered with shots. When your leader is a -4 it is also not doing much for your team either. I think that he waited too long to start playing more guys and it caught up with the offence and now playing short at the back is killing them as well. JB is either going to let some guys rest a bit by playing others or run the guys to death and we go into a slump. You notice that the Foggies did not cry when they had 10 penalties against them. Their captain with a busted up face still stood up to Gallant and it motivated their troops. Basically Gallant woke them up and they hammered us all over the ice.
Big game for the Dogs tonight and if we don't step it up a slump could be coming.
Negatives for me were the power play and lack of effort by our stars. JB mixing up lines and PP and it appears that everyone is out of place and there are more individual efforts than a team effort. Are Picard and Howes worth what we are paying them as twenties?
Positive Thomas breaking into the score sheet and hopefully just starting his game to another level. Still thought Mayer played well but no support.

I can without a doubt say that Mayer has made the best saves i've seen in Mile One all year. This Kid is a tremendous talent, and really reminded me of Bernier. The save on Welcher when it was a 2-1 was rediculas. There was another Blocker save that was rediculas. Timo made some great saves lat night too, But If it wasn't for each teams goalies the score EASILY could have been 10-5/10-6.

I have to disagree with your comment about Gallant. Gallant woke them up and they hammered us all over the ice? Are you kidding?? The Fog Devils were taking over well before Gallant fought, in fact they had scored 3 unanswered goals in the third period before Brett did what he does best in an attempt to rally the Dogs. To hold Gallant accountabled for the Fog Devils beating the Dogs silly in the third is simply not right, in fact I would have been concerned had he NOT tried to turn the tide when it was obvious St. John's was taking control.
I think most people here would agree, the biggest issue with last night's game was that Stich and Amyot weren't dressed. Doesn't bode well for tonight either, but I've seen the boys do some pretty amazing stuff this season so I won't count them out. Hoping for the Dogs to finally break into the win column in the un-friendly confines of Mile One.

Never said it was Gallants fault but after that fight it was all one way. They went from dominating to devastating. Like putting gravy on your fries.
I want the boy's to win but I am not getting warm fuzzy feelings tonight. You snuggling with Joey tonight to watch the game.

All this talk of going into a slump. Of course we're going to slump. Like it or not we were hot out of the gate. Our team as it stands is like....a team that should be slightly above .500, IMO. It's like Cape Breton so far. They are playing amazing hockey but are playing over their heads and will slowly come down to earth.
The slump...with two of our regular D out with injuries, we're going to slump. Have have 6 good D and then nothing, so losing one or two is going to be a tough hill to climb...oh yeah. We haven't even hit losing kids to world juniors and such, plus things like Despres on Team Quebec, etc etc.
As for Hooper and Howes? These are guys who normally get big ice time with the team's best players. We have them playing most of their time on lines 2 and 3. Hooper had no training camp and exhibition at all. Howes has been tossed from line combo to line combo since he got here.
You put Hooper, Howes and someone else on the second line, and stick with it, and they'll start to produce. That is no where near as big an issue though as wtf to do when our D our out injured when we only have 6 that are capable at this level to begin with.
