Great to see Mayer listed in the Top 30, hopefully he will be the first Sea Dog to go in the first round.

I think we have a good possibility of two 1st round draft picks for the NHL in Mayer and Sauve. It's early though, just remember what happened to Stich

From what I heard it wasn't Stich's fault why he dropped!!!

Yeah it sure would be nice to see both Sauve' and Mayer go in the 1st round...as it stands the edge would go to Mayer IMO, but Yann could turn it on at any time...he has the tools, but I don't see the intensity in his game of someone fighting for a spot in the draft....Mayer on the other hand wow that Guy has made some amazing saves for us in the past few games, it's crazy how flexible he is...and he plays with a cool confidence that is nice to see in a netminder...although it freaks me out when he starts to roam, I have little confidence in a goalie trying to do a defencemans job, but thats just me .

I have little confidence in a goalie trying to do a defencemans job, but thats just me . Hasek couldn't handle the puck for the life of him and look at him. In the top 5 goaltenders of all time.

I think he's saying Mayer can handle a puck too well. But if you don't try to do too much, you won't learn your limitations.
Sauvé is perplexing. He has damn fine tools, but hab is right, his intensity isn't up there and he's been making too many poor, slow decisions. Maybe this 5 forward pp, a slap his and Grant's faces, will light a fire.

Sure Hasek couldn't handle the puck and it didn't hinder his numbers...but I remember him giving up goals that wouldn't have been scored on him if he was where he was supposed to be...in the crease concentrating on his position...Marty Brodeur on the other hand , a very good goaltender who plays the puck as good as anyone and never seems to put his team at a disadvantage while doing so. He leaves the crease to set the puck for his defence and returns to his position, no flopping no diving to get back in the net.....Hasek top 5 of all time, thats another one thats a matter of opinion, Roy, Brodeur, Dryden, Plante, Durnan, Broda, Smith, Fuhr.....I'd put him in the top 10 or 15 all time.... top 5 of his era but not all time.

I wouldn't even put Furh in top 20 but thats just my opinion. Hard to argue with Haseks numbers, and don't forget, he never entered the NHL until he was 26 or so. Hard to believe he was drafted in 1983 2 Jennings Trophys 6 Vezinas 2 Hart Trophys 2 Lester B Pearsons. Not to mention Stanley Cup and Olympic Gold medal. Almost 43 years old and still going strong. If not top 5, no way he is less than top 10.

Hasek will be hurt by the fact that he only won a cup because he signed with a stacked team, and he was a backup in Chicago. Roy, Brodeur, Dryden, Plante, and Broda have to be ahead of him. After that, it is debateable.

As for Mayer, this is just further proof that Red Line Report is the only service that actually put decent effort into scouting him. This is similar to last year when RLR had Grant as a late 2nd, while most services had him as a 7th rounder.

That doesn't count against him at all.
