I love Gallant and all but I think his antics tonight were a mistake. Bathurst is struggling so far this year. We should have tried to play a road sleeper of a game and try to squeeze out a win/point that way. I think Gallant woke a sleeping giant in this one.

well you knew we werent going to win all 3 better a stinker by us tonight and come home hungry tomorrow Yeah which is why I picked Bathurst to win this one in that pool thingy. I didn't "know" we wouldn't win all three though, but I was hoping we would. That home game tomorrow against the Foggies is no gimme either. I expect it to be a close physical game for sure.

TITAN DEFEAT SEA DOGS 6-3 Saint John Finishes Mini-Road Trip with 1-1 Record, Will Face St. John’s On Saturday Night at Harbour Station
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, October 26, 2007
BATHURST, NB --- The Saint John Sea Dogs lost in regulation for just the second time this month on Friday night, falling to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan by a score of 6-3 at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.
In an overtly physical affair that saw several penalties being handed out by officials and countless big hits being thrown, the Titan outpaced the Sea Dogs on both the shot clock and the score sheet, earning their seventh win of the season as a result.
Jordan Clendenning, Charles-Antoine Messier, Tomy Joly (3), and Mathieu Perreault all scored for the Titan on Friday, while Saint John’s three goals came courtesy of Keven Charland, Chris DiDomenico, and Brett Gallant.
Travis Fullerton was credited with the loss in goal for Saint John, while Acadie-Bathurst net minder Antoine Tardif earned the victory, his fifth of the season.
“We’re obviously disappointed with the result of tonight’s game,” said Sea Dogs Assistant Coach Jim Midgley following the defeat. “We just weren’t able to get into any kind of rhythm at either end of the ice unfortunately and it cost us the game. Full marks to the Titan, they played well out there tonight and deserved to win. Hopefully we can rebound from this loss with a strong performance tomorrow night against St. John’s on our home ice.”
The home team struck early on Friday, as Jordan Clendenning went coast-to-coast with the puck prior to beating Fullerton with a low shot at the 1:06 mark of the first period to give the Titan a 1-0 lead. The Sea Dogs responded quickly however, as a high shot by Keven Charland deep in Titan territory tied things up at one apiece 39 seconds later.
Charles-Antoine Messier then notched a tip-in power play tally at the 9:06 mark of the opening frame, giving Acadie-Bathurst a 2-1 lead in the process. The Titan continued to apply heavy pressure in the Sea Dogs’ zone throughout the duration of the first period, adding a third goal late in the frame (off the stick of Tomy Joly) as the opening twenty came to an end with the visiting squad from Port City trailing by two goals.
The Titan maintained their high level play in the second period, registering the frame’s first five shots on goal while killing off an early penalty to preserve their 3-1 lead.
The home team went up by three near the midway point of the second, as Mathieu Perreault scored on the backhand to earn his ninth tally of the season. Perreault’s successful shot was one of fifteen registered by Acadie-Bathurst in the middle frame, as the Titan reached the forty minute mark of Friday’s contest with a 30-11 lead in shots on goal.
The Titan went up by four goals at the 6:19 mark of the third period, as Tomy Joly netted his second of the night with Mathieu Perreault and Dany Masse picking up assists on the play. Joly’s third of the game put Acadie-Bathurst up by five 54 seconds later later, as the Titan onslaught continued unabated.
Back-to-back goals by Chris DiDomenico and Brett Gallant at the 11:41 and 13:08 marks of regulation’s final frame brought the score to within the realm of respectability on Friday, but that would be as close as Saint John would get, eventually succumbing to their provincial rivals by a score of 6-3 despite dominating most of the third period, doubling the Titan in shots on goal (12-6) over the course of the final twenty minutes of play.
Saint John next hits the ice against the St. John’s Fog Devils on Saturday night at 7:00pm at Harbour Station. The Sea Dogs will be looking to earn their fourth home win of October against their expansion cousins, who are coming off of a 3-0 road win over the PEI Rocket on Friday night.
