How the fuck did I get pulled into this horseshit thread? Anyway I like things as they are, and absolutely HATE how most teams now have 3 players wearing the "A". I hope JB keeps things as they are just so certain parties can keep whining about no alternate/assistant/associate captains. You're either a leader or you're not. You lead by example. Having an 'A' on your sweater won't help you there. For the most part it's usually an ego stroke for egotistical primadona players seeking some form of self recognition.

There's a huge difference between the two words. Assistance implies subordinance of which there is none in this situation. Alternates have the same power as a captain on the ice.
The writing and editing in the TJ has always been marginal at best. Another error today has a group building nest sites for great white herons. There is no such bird.

I like not having A's. I think it's a statement that the team is the most important entity. JB knows he has a special group of kids. I don't think he could give a complete explanation of why he's doing this; it's probably his intuition driving this decision.

give it a rest alternate , assistant why is it that you guys got to nic pick every dam thing
someone forgets a , or someone spels (spells) a word wrong or theres a poll not working or theres a vending machine out of peppermints or someone droped a piece of popcorn in section 5
its a hockey discussion board about the seadogs and the rest of the q every reply to this thread is what a dam a on the jersey means
personaly i could care less who if any have a letter on the front of there jersey
i have played 10 years of rep / high school hockey and the letter just allowed you to talk to the ref you didnt have a letter he wouldnt talk to you, at this level it doesnt seem to matter if you have a letter sometimes the ref will talk sometimes he tells them to go away regardless if they have a letter oh and by the way every team i was on called them assistant captains

Who gives a crap about the A's anyways??? JB's sure doesn't!!!! I personally think they all deserve an A by the way things look and you can't give every player an A so thats why JB didn't give anyone an A.........discussion over!!!

For the most part it's usually an ego stroke for egotistical primadona players seeking some form of self recognition. sprry leaks it was me..i wanst durnk at the time,,,,but i am now...and its 2:35am and i ahve to work at 6am...guess who wont be g oing to work? yeap you go it...me.\ but in all seriosuness folks...alex grant is doing a GREAT job at being the captain...we are palying awesome...why chagne a good thing? tyhere is seriosuly no need for an A...every single guy on the bench leads....dido gets the boys wound boy before the game...and the rest of the guys follow...grant does a great job at being the captain...Hell, you can consider every other sea dog player an "ALTERNATE" captain...buyt you dont need the a's. k im goin to bed. Our captain in the penalty box in overtime for a stupid penalty and we still win. Who cares about the A and stick a C on the stick boy we would still have 7 wins.

Wasn't really a stupid penalty. Clendenning turned his back right before Grant hit him, wasn't even a hard hit if you ask me.

Wasn't really a stupid penalty. Clendenning turned his back right before Grant hit him, wasn't even a hard hit if you ask me. Clendenning was diving all over the ice that game........... even got called for a diving penalty. |
