At the end of the Moncton game, a group of 'Cats fans made their way to the tunnel where the sea dogs were exiting the ice, and started heckling Fullerton about "non-hockey" issues (I'm sure you can all guess).
To me, this seemed classless, and it diminished the entire group of visiting Moncton fans in my eyes.
Sure, do it during the game. It's far from classy, but at least you're trying to get him off his game. But after the game? After a particularly hard-fought game where both teams probably deserved a lot of credit? It just seemed stupid and pointless.
I know Fullerton probably doesn't care about that stuff, he's used to being insulted by opposing fans. Any goalie should be. But it bothered me.
I just want other opinions. Should off-ice issues be fair game? I think it's okay during the game, but when it no longer serves a purpose, the only comments should be "good game," or "we'll get you next time."

I personally think it goes too far at this level. The pros get heckled about personal issues, but that's just it - they're pros. At the junior level I don't agree with it.

There's absolutely no place for it, at the rink, during the game or not, or on here. The guy paid for it already.
I'm guessing these are the same yahoos who yell "Go Catz Go!" during every national anthem whether away or at home.

Actually, it's LETS GO WILDCATS!!!! ;D And it is not during the national anthem, but rather towards the end, when everyone starts clapping anyways. But I disgress. It's totally stupid and uncalled for what they did. I don't even care if it is during the game, if they are pros or whatever. I honestly try to not insult an opposing player as much as I can (unless you consider thanking him for an errand pass or a weak goal an insult). However, if ever I would do it, it would have to do with his play or attitude on the ice. As stupid as Fullerton's move was, those fans' reactions were at the same level.

Some people seem to forget that these hockey players are just kids...then again it doesn't surprise me, the same kind of stupidity can be heard at minor hockey rinks all winter long...some people have to give their heads a shake and GROW UP it's only a game.

It all depends on the action that the player took, and how the fan delivers the "insult". After the game though...yeah. It serves no point other than to be rude and insulting. Make your comment between periods or something.
An example involving myself would be asking Nicholas Bachand last year "Are you scared to fight Gallant without your axe?" when Bachand would not go with Gallant after Gallant challenged him for roughing up one of our players. It's an off ice issue. I brought it up. I'm not losing any sleep over it and don't see it as wrong at all.

I find it to be neither entertaining nor overly offensive. Sorry folks but when you drink and drive this kind of thing goes with the territory. Its a very small price to pay in comparison to what could have happened. Now if it was an off-ice issue that was beyond his control then I would agree. Also depending on exactly how the comments were worded and if there were kids around it might have been out of line as well.

That was funny as hell, LMAO, we were at that game and heard that being said...90% of the people at the rink had no clue what it meant but the few who got it, got a chuckle out of it....I guess some things are more tolerable than others.

Just as classy as making a group about the situation on a public internet board

They are usually too drunk to make out clearly It's still during the anthem and it's every single game I've seen. It is disrespectful. It's right up there with the "in the hole!" goofs on golf.

All the anthem comments...everyone should be able to stand up, shut up, and keep hats off until the end of anthem. The whole "Oh it's near the end" comment is horseshit. The end is as much a part of the anthem as the start, the middle, etc etc.

Just as classy as making a group about the situation on a public internet board I came across that too. Totally stupid and uncalled for. It was actually funny, beause after the game, I had to hold back one of the Saint John fans from running down and beating on two Moncton fans.

It's not wrong, but neither is calling Fullerton an Booze Bag, there is very little different between both situations other then you tried to be witty about it. Personally if your stupid enough to drive drunk or wield an axe then take it like a man, before, during or after the game. I love the Holier Than Thou feel to this thread. It's not like a sea dogs fan has never been kicked out of an opposing team arena before.
