I think that maybe Moncton fans just got used to winning all the time, so maybe they are just bad losers. I mean they have that shiny Memorial cup from two years ago..... oh wait never mind, my bad.

I love the Holier Than Thou feel to this thread. It's not like a sea dogs fan has never been kicked out of an opposing team arena before. Actually it's not the feel of the thread at all, in fact it's likely just the feel you normally get when you post on the Seadogs board.

It is the feeling of this thread there are posters here who feel they or their team can do no wrong. Then through the term classless around like they have never done anything that was moderately "classless". The guy had a DUI charge that’s always going to come up in trash talk much like the Axe will, but talking about the Bash situation isn’t wrong I guess because it’s different, right?

It all depends on the action that the player took, and how the fan delivers the "insult". After the game though...yeah. It serves no point other than to be rude and insulting. Make your comment between periods or something. An example involving myself would be asking Nicholas Bachand last year "Are you scared to fight Gallant without your axe?" when Bachand would not go with Gallant after Gallant challenged him for roughing up one of our players. It's an off ice issue. I brought it up. I'm not losing any sleep over it and don't see it as wrong at all. It's not wrong, but neither is calling Fullerton an Booze Bag, there is very little different between both situations other then you tried to be witty about it. Personally if your stupid enough to drive drunk or wield an axe then take it like a man, before, during or after the game. I love the Holier Than Thou feel to this thread. It's not like a sea dogs fan has never been kicked out of an opposing team arena before. Yes it's wrong to harp over something a person has already paid for. You perfect people excepted of course. I don't defend anyone's actions, but I don't dwell over them. Get over it and move on. Focus on the game, not the people.

So what do you trash talk about then? If you can't bring up the past or any mistakes someone has made because you’re not perfect what do you say? I'm not one to heckle players too much, well with exception of Morehouse that one time, I don't feel it accomplishes much. Some people like it and it makes a difference I guess it's just how you view the situation. But when heckeling/trash talking nothing is off limits except race and religion IMO.

i recall several sea dogs fans hollering out to jonathan laberge on opening night "hey laberge, how'd you like an alpine!?" yet when he was a sea dog nobody made fun of him. oh well, mr. laberge kinda got the last laugh that night, eh?

it's weird that you brought that up, because a few minutes ago i came across a facebook group called "travis puts the drunk in drunk driving".. and it bothered me too. IMO it's stupid when people bring up personal things that have nothing to do with the hockey game.

Thats pretty lame that any Seadog Fan would make any comments toward Laberge when they all cried his last season with us when the Moose fan made the sign.

i don't agree with bringing up personal problems either. travis made a mistake, could've been a lot worse too, but in any case, lets move on, guys.

These guys are young and make mistakes but if they do something stupid along the lines of Fullerton, Laberge, Bachand, etc, they know this is coming. If the thought of running someone over while drunk and having fans harass you over it wasn't enough to keep you from doing the original deed, then you get what you deserve. So long as the comments aren't vulgar and slanderously delivered, too bad. Just my personal opinion.
What I do consider off limits would be actions the player is not responsible for. Like say some player had a family member that did something terrible...like molest children or something. Thats beyond the player's control and should not be mentioned, but we all know some fans would do it. (especially come playoffs)

That is so far off the mark as a lot of people here can attest to. I have no problem with fans bringing up Fullerton's DUI, or Laberge's, or the Bachand thing, etc etc. I personally would have done it during the game, or between periods. When the game is over, what's the point? It's too late to try and throw the guy off his game or anything. May as well find the guy outside the rink, or at school, or at his home, and blast him for his mistake because when the game is finished it amounts to about the same thing.
