I guess it's time for the Dogs and JB to officially declare that they are going for it this year and that just making the playoffs is not enough. If they were building for next year, they would not be loading up with high end 20's that will take way ice time from the developemnt of the kids. Enjoy the 4th line Thomas, that's all you'll see. With that out of the way, this is a good pickup that will help win games. IMO, a better decision that getting Brad Gallant. I don't know how this will affect the lineup until some injuries start tohappen.

Ah, the magicians M.O. - bitch, moan, complain. What a surprise.
Howes a high end 20? Not who I'd consider as high-end. Since when is Fullerton a high end 20? They must both be considered as such, since you yourself said the Seadogs are loading up on high end 20s.
Ah well, gave you a chance to complain anyway.

Howes could get 30-35 or more goals this season. had 25 in only 47 games.

Well he isnt high end he is certainly more high end than Brad Gallant, Jordan Knox and Francis Charland Not sure what you guys would be complaining for tho... these are good additions JB is making

All I worry about is if any players are yet to be sent instead of draft picks, and if so, who? I doubt we're sending anything for Howes to be honest, or at most it's Pard. The Hooper deal has me a bit frightened.
Plus maybe JB is using these guys to hopefully win us a pile of first half of the season games, hoping they will put up big numbers, then move them at the trading period for a bigger return? Ever think of that? Just food for thought.
Now for the comment to make me even less popular than I already am. Why getting so pissed that Thomas will be a 4th liner? Thats what he is anyway and all I ever see him being, and there's nothing wrong with that. He brings a ton of heart, grit and effort, but he lacks the skill be on an offensive line.

But that's a true statement Leask... that's all Mike Thomas is, no more and certainly no less. On a decent team, a 4th liner/maybe 3rd liner. Not to take anything away from what he does, because in that role he's getting better all the time, but he's not ever likely to develop into a goal-scoring threat.

This move makes our team even stronger. Does anyone know what we have left for draft picks for the 2008 draft? Just wondering.

Ummmm, basically nothing 20081st Rd - Quebec 2nd Rd - Saint John 3rd - Baie Comeau 4th - drummondville 2009 you have a lot of picks traded as well, interesting as to JP's plans here. He is selling your future pretty much. Better hope the young guys you have noe develop and dont flop.

there are always deals to be made to get picks back. Like Leask said, if you unload some of the guys at xmas to make room for younger to come along. you can get players in return and picks. Also are we forgetting young Langon may be here after xmas now as he is playing locally. Then when we ship out Amyot at xmas does Pisano come up?although Amyot was a high pick I think picks are just about all we will get for him now. He seems lost out there afraid to do anyhing. Magic if you are looking for something to complain about and just seem lost today. the NHL season starts tonight and the LEAFS will be eliminated from playoff hope after tonights game.............lol

I fail to see how I was bitching, moaning or complaining since i said i thought it was a good move. I think Howes is high end since he's worth at least a pt a game and possibly as many as 40 goals if he's healthy. That is not high end considering what is around the league as 20s?

I wouldn't be overly concerned with the picks even if we do keep Picard & Howes throughout the season some of the picks will no doubt be coming back to us after Christmas anyway.
That doesn't mean he won't trade them hoping for high picks after Christmas I have no clue what JB has planned but I hope that Pard will be part of this deal seems to make sense that the trade happens just days after Pard leaves the team
