i think they should start passingham on the weekend and if he does okay, cut fullerton. Risky to use one single game as a measuring stick. If they were confident in Passingham then Fullerton would have been cut before the regular season began Likewise if Fullerton was staying, Passingham would be cut.

Maybe their plan is to let Fullerton go by Xmas and try to develop Passingham as quickly as possible. I don;t think they originally planned on sending Fullerton packing but with Picard in the mix alot of things change.

Just for the record the team didn't rally around Mayer in PEI, the Rocket simplyed played an absolutely horrible game. And even if you didn't see it look at the stats where Mayer was only peppered with 11 shots through the first 2 with limited scoring chances and even in the third where the Rocket did get credited with some shots several of those shots came close in scrambles because Mayer couldn't control/conver rebounds. Not knocking Mayer but he is a rookie and is going to need sometime to adjust to the Q. And the best way to support him is with a solid backup goalie but with all due respect to Passingham as a 17 yr old rookie he isn't ready this season. IMO Saint John's best option would be to pickup Kennedy on waivers. As a 19 yr old with 4 yrs experience he isn't great but he is a reliable backup for support. I still Fullerton is better but he takes up a 20 yr old spot and I don't think it makes sense to use an overager as a backup. That would allow Saint John to keep Picard-Hooper, Charland & Knox to support your offense. Sea Dogs fans should give Knox a chance he is a 20 yr old but still a rookie like others. Give him some time and after watching him in Jr A I think he could help provide secondary scoring to your team. For a hockey standpoint I think that makes the most sense although unfortunately the issue of getting/paying for Knox's release might be the deciding factor. Either way it is a good problem to have as adding Picard-Hooper was a huge addition to what I considered an already good team. Agree mostly. One thing adding PH does is show JB wants to win this season. If he really wants to win now, would he keep Passingham? Not very likely. The Kennedy move makes a lot of sense.

i don't think it makes any sense to have a 20 yo AND a euro used up as goalies. albeit they may both be playing well, it means one is gonna be on the bench all game. i think you'd be wise to dump fullerton, but i think after the trade period is over in january, both knox and fullerton will be gone as you guys are looking good on paper, and there's no telling how far you may go this season. congrats on the Picard-Hooper trade.

kennedy makes sense ? someone please tell me , since alot on here says it makes sence , why kennedy makes no sense to me for 1 there keeping passingham for a reason to the pei guy in your opinion hes not ready for the q ? did you live in ontario b4 this and seen him play ? 2 mayer may be a rookie to the q but the kid played pro hockey he didnt just come from midget 3 passingham , st larent , dopud all just as good an option as kennedy last season dopud did ok not awsome but not terrible either and with a better team and a better defense with a year progression id only say he would do better this season than last

i say lets drop fullerton and let mayer carry the load with passingham , st.laren or dopud filling in the odd game may be a risk because we only saw mayer in 1 game against a team we were far superior in

I personally just don't think Mayer is/should be expected to be ready to shoulder a heavy load just yet. I don't think Kennedy is the answer, why not just go with Dopud in that case. While Fullerton is considered by most to be a Q backup, he WAS the Sea Dogs starter when he was acquired and we all saw he could hold his own. While he's not a bona fide starter I consider him a step above a run-of-the-mill backup. I think Fullerton needs to stay until Mayer is really ready, and I think that'll happen by Christmas.
I really think Knox is the odd man out. Too bad about how it's all played out with the non-release from Summerside and all.

Tough call, but with three golies Fullerton may be odd man out and the non-release from Summerside Knox may be the odd man out. We are getting a scorer so I will say Knox is the one leaving though i think he would be a great fit for this team.

How come there isn't a Picard-Hooper option in the poll? I don't think he'll last.

He may not be a great goalie but as a backup he is very capable and he has proven what he can do. To me that is exactly what you want is a guy who understands his role will be to support Mayer and somone who has the experience to handle however much playing time you need him to play. As for Passingham, I don't know him but I also never suggested he wasn't or couldn't be a good goalie. The fact is he is a 17 yr old rookie and if you are going to have an 18 yr old rookie Euro having a 17 yr old rookie as his backup isn't a good plan if you hope to be a good team (See Bathurst last season). Now I think Mayer certainly looks like he has potential but rookie goalies generally have some ups and downs over the course of a long season which is why you need to support Mayer with a solid backup not only to get through those rough spots but it also eases the pressure on the starter because he doesn't feel like he has to carry the team every night. I mean even our Lafleur who was outstanding last season and established himself as one of the league's better goalies in the league struggled with the pressure in the playoffs and we ended up losing in the first round largely because we didn't have a legitimate backup option. Note: I also looked and Passingham got into 2 games in preseason playing approx 60 mins. But a 4.11 GAA and 0.765 sav percentage doesn't look like a guy who is ready to support your team. Likely a year in Jr A would help him be ready next season.

they may be keeping three goalies because mayer is going to be away for two weeks at x-mas and they need fully and p-ham to play at that time. my feel p-ham will develop better here in practse

Just pick up Kennedy off Waivers- hes only 19 and had similar numbers to Fullerton last year. Unless you have a younger prospect you can bring in instead. I Agree
