Mr. Catcher, I heard that Mr. Gamble came over to you and explained the problem ... if so, great work by Mark ... how old is he ? 23 ? 24 ? How old is Cryderman ? 50 ? 60 ? Guess who's doing the better work ... the younger one.

Love that the "Hey" song is back. Song 2 By Blur was kinda...boring after like 3 games. Crowd was very loud today for a sunday game

Gamble is 23. And I would like to rescind my earlier reservations about him getting the job. I thought he was gonna have Cryderman's job, which I assumed had a lot of behind the scenes duties.

Things are better this year, although nothing is innovative. The Dogs have just finally caught up to the rest of the league with their in game entertainment. I'm not ready to annoint Gamble a genius, but at least he can mimic what works in other places. Great idea getting Christina Rogers to do the anthems, whoever had that idea. She probably did the best job I've seen so far. Music is much better this year, although it gets repetitive over the course of the game. But much better. Announcing is brutal. Splash is a joke. Opening entertainment is much improved. Melinda Barkhouse is terrible too.

The announcing is not brutal....JUST THE ENGLISH ANNOUNCING IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That french guy is awesome. In fact he quickly is becoming one of the best in the league entertainment wise (from the rinks I've been to anyway).
The english guy is the worst in the league, and quickly becoming worse and worse instead of improving.
FIRE TRIVETT!!!!

English guy obviously cant read what they put in front of him and obviously he has a job that requires him to be able to read english. Since he cant read then for sure fire him. Im just glad I dont have to listen to Cryderman's voice all year I would much rather listen to Melinda

I like the French guy a lot...He seems to know what's required of him (pay attention, getting the facts straight, and sound excited)...he even made me smile with the "DiDiDiDomenico!" and "Picard-H...OOOOOOOOOPER!" calls...
As for the English guy, it's a disgrace. It's not a tough job...I've been to hockey games all over this country, at various levels, and NO ONE has gotten the home team names and numbers as brutally wrong as this guy...at this point, I think the team kind of owes the fans an apology for how bad it's been...
I mean, to mispronounce player names on the home team is inexcusable...I made a joke about him getting "Liske" wrong in the preseason, but I assumed it was his first game or something...and to mix up the goal and assist on the Stoddard goal shows he clearly wasn't paying attention...was Dido still in the zone when Stoddard deked Delmas out of his gear?
As for the rest, I don't mind Splash at all, he's a fun diversion for people with small kids who would be restless and antsy otherwise. I don't really care about the intermission stuff, and there's a reason why there's no innovation in the pregame ceremony. It works like this. Leave it...If someone is seeing it for the first time, it looks pretty cool...and if not, it's not bad enough to upset anyone. I used to show up to games late to avoid the whole "What time is it?" speech.
But man, those doors look like a stripper stage backdrop, don't they?

Does the french announcer speak english well enough to do both jobs? He can't be any worse than the english guy.

Does the french announcer speak english well enough to do both jobs? He can't be any worse than the english guy. Fans on this board have already asked that question to the Sea Dogs staff, and the answer has always been..."He doesn't speak english well enough". Wonder how bad his english really is? Couldn't be any worse than Trivett. I don't see anything wrong with having someone with a bit of a french accent doing it...better than having someone screw things up every single game!

I would just like to say congratulations to Mark Gamble on a WELL put-together pre-game show last night. If it wasn't for the announcer being a little slow in places it would have been awesome. But none-the-less, Mark is off to a great start. He is steps ahead of the man that he replaced! Great job and keep up the good work Mark! The telegraph reported Andrew Crommwell will be returning to the announcer role in a couple games. Should solve that problem.
