BOUCHERVILLE, Tuesday, September 18, 2007 – The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League disciplinary committee today imposed an additional one-game suspension to Saint John Sea Dogs winger Brett Gallant. The suspension follows an incident that occurred during last Sunday’s game against the PEI Rocket. During the contest, Gallant was caught hitting an opponent with his stick.
The decision was rendered after reviewing the videotape of the incident and consulting all concerned parties. The suspension is in effect as of today.
In accordance with the QMJHL policy in the matter of disciplinary sanctions, the disciplinary committee will not be available for further comment.

So if someone says something to piss you off you swing a stick at him....
Good discipline, well coached.....someone who uses a stick as a weapon should be charged by the police....great example for the young kids at the game

NOT saying it was a good idea prob wasnt something JB told him to do so I wouldnt blaim the coaching Gallent is known for using his fists not his sticks. Being jumped by 2 rocket players wasnt the best move by PEI either maybe they should have just let the refs do there job.

Another bright move by Gallant...a bright hockey future awaits this ****POS**** 1 game shows you it was not intentional. The way Gallant plays things are going to happen all these post do is show how jealous that each and every team does not have a Brett Gallant. Trolls are out their just looking to cut him up. You can go up and down the ice and never touch anyone and your a great guy. Gallant goes up and down and runs over 2-3 a shift, things are going to happen and if hes on your team you love it. Or you could be like Catatonic and wait in your little office and pounce on everything anyone says about him. If its negative go with it and if its positive ,cut it up.

Southorn gave him a shove and Gallant dropped the gloves immediately without asking Southorn if he wanted go or anything. Southorn wasn't interested but wasn't given a choice by this clown. Then Main jumped in after the linesman was in between Southorn and Gallant because he wanted to get a piece of Gallant after his recklessness with his stick. Nothing really came about from that because, like I said, the linesman was in between them.

I am not jealous of having a player like Gallant on my team.....this is not the 1970's......
This is a waste of a roster spot.......watch the Memorial Cup...the teams that win now skate fast, pass well and dominate the powerplay....
Less than half the NHL teams carry a "goon " anymore.....roster spots for players like Gallant won't be wasted in another 3 years

I don't want him on my team and I bet a lot of others feel the same way. Also thats no excuse he hit someone in the head with a stick, intentionally, stupid move. Not like the suspension means that much to the team tho.

I still can't believe he got 5 minutes let alone a 2 game suspension. It was a a one handed tap that did not look intentional. Even PEI fans who were down in that end were suprised he got a match penalty for it.

I was at the game sitting at the blueline the play happened at............Thomas ran him well after the pass had been made..............Don't need a tough guy to spear or stick out the knee...we will pay Thomas back...be sure Hey crashthenet...can you even keep track of your own posts? You talk about how your guys are going to be spearing and kneeing Thomas when Moncton and Saint John play next, then bitch at Gallant for using his stick? Hypocritical two-faced ************ POS *************** you are. ;D

The ref thought it was dangerous, the league thought it wa dangerous, and the fans thought it was dangerous. Only ones who didn't were SJ fans and the one/two Islanders who are close to the Gallant family..... As fans, you should support your players........but when things like this happen, you can't always put the blinders on.

Let's start with the PEI fan that has said he sat close to the whole thing and the player had his head alittle low and gallant was tapping him and the last time it happen to hit his head. Is it highsticking sure absolutely! Did 2 guys jump him well let's see from where I sat Southorn came to the aid of his buddy so let's see that's 1 then Main got up and went after him so hmmm 1 +1 = 2 yup 2 guys glad I stayed in school to figure that out! I love all the people saying they wouldn't want him on their team but if they had a player very similar they wouldn't be complaining at all I slap a beer bet right now gimmie a break! You can't compare regular season and the playoffs or Mem Cup when your talking guys that scrap. Fights don't happen as much in the playoffs no shit everyone knows that! Gallant sure has made it further then alot of players in this league with his fists getting an invite to an NHL rookie camp your right what a failure this guy is
