You know their might be a lot of truth in what leduc unit says . I got a feeling gallants ice time could be reduced this year in favor of more skilled players and the possibility of adding pisano, lets hope not, I really like what he brings to the table.

SEA DOGS OUTGUN MAINEIACS Four-Goal Outburst in the Second Period Propels Saint John to an 8-4 Win Over Lewiston
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, August 31, 2007
LEWISTON, ME --- After spending the past week training at CFB Gagetown in southwestern New Brunswick, the Saint John Sea Dogs took to the ice with militaristic poise on Friday night, their sights set squarely on the reigning President’s Cup Champion Lewiston MAINEiacs as they sought to earn their second win of the pre-season at Androscoggin Bank Coliseum.
Despite playing on foreign soil and behind enemy lines, Saint John executed a flawless battle plan against the MAINEiacs, with the team’s offensive players continually shelling the Lewiston net with heavy artillery while their talented defensive core protected Sea Dogs Territory with an unrelenting fervor rarely seen in exhibition play. Meanwhile, the goaltending tandem of Robert Mayer and Troy Passingham combined to fortify the Saint John goal in dynamic fashion, confounding the Lewiston attack on several occasions en route to the decisive victory.
Head Coach/General Manager Jacques Beaulieu was happy with what he saw from his young team on Friday night.
“We’re very pleased with tonight’s game from a variety of standpoints,” said Beaulieu. “There’s not much more you can ask for as a coach than for your team to work hard and play smart, and both of those things happened out there tonight.”
Saint John struck first on Friday, with Yann Sauve firing a canon of a slap shot past Lewiston net minder Peter Delmas to give the Sea Dogs their first power play goal of the pre-season at the 12:38 mark of the first period. The MAINEiacs responded quickly however, with Domenic Savoie beating Robert Mayer to tie the match at one apiece 2:25 later. The score remained 1-1 as the opening frame came to an end despite some quality chances in the late going for the Sea Dogs, who out-shot Lewiston 13-10 over the course of the game’s first twenty minutes.
The Sea Dogs started the second period off with a bang, as Matthew Stoddard and Francis Charland both scored in the opening 3:05 to put the visiting team up 3-1. Lewiston responded on the power play, with Stefano Giliati beating Mayer with a well-placed shot to pull the MAINEiacs back to within one of the Sea Dogs’ lead.
Troy Passingham took over goaltending duties midway through the second period, with Robert Mayer exiting the match having stopped 19 of the 21 shots sent his way. Passingham was tested often during his 9:13 of playing time in the second, but the wiry Upper Canadian refrained from surrendering a goal to the home team, making six saves on as many shots to send the game into its second intermission with the Sea Dogs up 5-2 after Keven Charland and Alex Grant both scored in the final 2:23 of the frame.
The third period saw the Sea Dogs’ lead reduced to two at the 46:51 mark of the game, as Chris Tutalo fired a shot that managed to elude Passingham and give the MAINEiacs a modicum of hope as the imminence of the final buzzer loomed large in scope for the 921 fans in attendance. Those hopes were dashed in violent fashion by Matthew Stoddard, Francis Charland, and Brett Gallant, who subsequently scored back-to-back-to-back goals for the Sea Dogs in a span of 3:03 to give the visiting squad from Port City an 8-3 lead with 6:41 remaining in regulation. A late goal by Marc Bourgeois pulled the MAINEiacs to within four of Saint John, but that would be as close as they would get on Friday night as the Sea Dogs shut the door on Lewiston’s offence in the closing minutes to ultimately finish with twice as many goals as their divisional rivals.
Several Sea Dogs contributed strong efforts on Friday, with Francis Charland (2G-1A-3P, First Star Selection), Yann Sauve (1G-2A-3P, Second Star Selection), and Chris DiDomenico (0G-3A-3P, Third Star Selection) leading the way offensively while rookie defensemen Simon Despres and Anthony Pisano combined to finish the night with a rating of +4.
Sea Dogs Training Camp continues on Sunday with the team practicing at Stewart Hurley Arena from 8:30-10:45am.
Saint John’s next pre-season match is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 5 at Harbour Station, and will see the Sea Dogs facing the MAINEiacs in a rematch of Friday’s contest. Saint John is now 2-0-1 in exhibition play while Lewiston is now 2-3.

Dogs looked VERY good at Lewy! They really kept the pressure on, were very effective keeping the puck in Lewiston's zone, and playing tough. I would not read too much into it, as Lewy was playng mostly the rookies ahead of the final cut, and Delmas was obviously trying to get his Q timing back after playing abroad. Never the less, I would expect many interesting games to come.

I am not sure what dogbert is trying to say either, although the drawing is first rate. But this happened last year with Bernier too when he came back from the world juniors. He had a couple of games where he let in a lot of soft goals at that time. oBviously, Lewiston left Delmas in to get him enough game time to get over this timning hump, before the real season starts.

Geez, do you uys even play hockey? It's a preseason game, and it doesn't matter he wasn't his best. Maybe he was trying out new pads or gloves or a new technique. Whatever it was, it was not loss of timing from playing extra hockey. You don't lose your timing by playing more!
