I hope they keep Downe when Barberio is back. I think he played really well last night. I like what I see out of Jodoin as well. Gormley I thought he played a good 1st period but was shaky afterwords. He will be a star in the league at 18, he has all the tools.

so will Boyle have a suspenion? last 5 min and misconduct He got a 5 minute fighting and a ten minute misconduct with 15:01 remaining. He wasn't even kicked out of the game, and technically coulod have played the last second of the game, if there was a stoppage at 19:59, and overtime, if it came to that. I'm not up on all the new rules and penalties, but I think the only way he could get suspended would be if PEI submitted a tape of the game...and why would they? It was a fight. If an instigator penalty was called, maybe, but I can't see it.

He got the 10 misc for spinning his helmet on the ice after the fight. The new rules do not tolerate any type of celebration or taunting after a fight.

Maybe at midseason is Boyle is moved.

Tonight was probably Downe last game with Cats unless Trades/Injuries. I expect him to be reassigned to Midget this week. Barberio will be back for next Saturday's game.

My hunch is Barberio is not the only d-man returning from NHL camp or they would have kept Downe as #7, right now they basically have no #7 and Bell is #8.

Why bring up Downe to sit Bell ? Is Bell hurt ?
I think Downe is the better Dman because of his mobility ... and he doesn't look timid out there at all. Bell needs to improve his mobility and play with a tough edge.
IMO Downe would gain more playing here the year as the #7 guy ... and drop Bell to Jr A and use him as an AP when needed. Bell would get more from playing regularly in Jr A against older players than being the #7/8 guy here ... and he could practice with the team regularly.
If Voinov arrives ... then Downe and Bell will share that #7 slot and not get much icetime ... so then it is the right decision to send Downe back to MAAA but have him practice with th eteam when he is available. Having both guys in NB is a bonus.

I talked to someone last night who is involved with the Downe Bell thing. I think earlier, it was posted that Downes father would like him to return to Fredericton to finish this year in High School. He is being played to expose him to the Q level, but I think it's only for a game or two. Bell will be played when Downe is done and isn't worried about sitting for now.
I like Downe as a defensemen but I would like to see where the coaches can take Bell. It would be nice to have his size out there.

It was great to see Boyle stick up for his teammate, i think that shows a lot of doubters why he is on the team, along with his steady stay at home defence

Back in a different thread, i think it was "Players Left In Camp" People were just wondering why the coaches were so hi up on this guy. Solid Kid and a solid Dman

I did not see him throw 1 decent hit all preseason. Smaller guys ie Taite Paul were doing it with a lot less size. What good is a "less" mobile large D man that doesn't use the size advantage. I am not sure if Bell has the mean streak in him. IMO
